The Album was predominately green with a photo of Ken Fletcher (Ess) taking a mark against Geelong on the cover. The hand coloured caricature illustrations of footballers from the major leagues in each state were drawn by Andre Sollier.

Similar design to the 1970 and 1972 sets however this time featuring good quality action photos taken at club training. The border is orange and the small oval in the bottom right corner with the player's name and playing position appears in various colours. The series of 72 features the VFL logo of the time in the top left corner and the Scanlens 'twins' logo in the top right. The cards appear in a series A and a series B with identical player photos in each, however the jigsaw puzzles on the reverse of the sets show different scenes. The series also includes 12 card sized stickers of team emblems. They were available in packets with a stick of bubble gum from milk bars, newsagents and similar outlets.

On Friday July 20, 1973 The News newspaper in Adelaide issued an eight page liftout celebrating its fiftieth year publication. The middle pages showed a poster, which had positions for fifty colour stickers of SANFL hall of fame players.

There were three printings of 24 cards in three states with the same first 12 cards depicting various sports and a Johnny Farnham card. Victoria and SA both issued 12 cards showing football scenes and NSW issued twelve soccer cards. Information on one card states that the player is Paul Bagshaw when it is actually Phil Carman. Similarly, information on another card states that the player is Barry Armstrong when it is really Trevor Keogh.

This set of 132 player cards and 12 checklists is 48 cards bigger than any Scanlens set before it and the first to include checklists to help with completing the series. The cards depict good action shots - quite obviously taken at training - in a white border with a 'ribbon' design in club colours down the left hand side. The reverse of each player card lists individual statistics while the checklist cards have club details on the back. Double stickers showing different club emblems are also included. Gary Dempsey and Alan Noonan both appear twice in this set. They were available in packets with a stick of bubble gum from milk bars, newsagents and similar outlets.

Based on the design of the 1974 series with a football in team colours replacing the 'ribbon' design in the bottom left corner of the card. The set comprises 132 cards and 12 checklists. Various action and profile shots again appear to be taken on training nights. The reverse of each card features a 'Magic Football Quiz' where answers to the posed questions are revealed by rubbing a coin over the card, in many cases damaging the image on the other side. They were available in packets with a stick of bubble gum from milk bars, newsagents and similar outlets.
