A wonderful Russian lady called Naina Velishko introduced me to this style of painting and ever since I painted my first “grass” I have been captivated by the graceful and delicate stroke work. So much so that I have written a project book full of patterns and instructions and regularly design new pattern packets to teach at seminars for the decorative painter.

I have made this page for those of you who, like me, truly love the style so we can share a little history and some links to sites where you can view original pieces. There is a wealth of information out there. Just type Khokhloma into your search engine and you will be there for the day. If you find a great site I would love to know so e-mail me so I can put it on this page to share. Here are some links to get you started.
