Laser Squad Nemesis - Mail Helper
Latest version : v1.111a (19th March 2002)
Background
How many of us have had to re-transmit a turn file to the LSN Server?
I know I've had to do it a few times, and since I'm too lazy to fiddle about looking in my LSN directory to find a certain turn amongst the hundreds that are there, I wrote this program.
Besides, it was a good excuse to learn Visual Basic.
This little toy saves the effort and difficulty of scrounging through a tree view to attach the turn file to an email.
Lists games by Game Number, Turn Number and Opponent Name.
Choose a game, hit send & off it goes.
Also handy for offline playing....
Log in to ISP, send saved turns, get new turns, log off - all in a minute or so.
Also contains ZIP functionality to archive games...
Handy for either transferring games between machines or archiving completed games.
Downloading
The latest version is v1.111a
If you have not downloaded this utility before, or your currently installed version is earlier than v1.110
then you need this version.
lsnmh1111a.zip (421k)
Please uninstall any previous versions before installing from this (lsnmh1111a.zip) archive.
If you are getting an error on installation about "Bad or missing MSVBVM60.DLL",
that is probably because you are running Windows 98.
Grab this (706k) file, and drop the .DLL into your System32 folder.
(Generally C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32)
Upgrading
If you are upgrading from any v1.110 (or higher) then you can download this file.
lsnmh1111a-exe.zip (37.6k)
Just replace the currently installed lsnmh.exe file with the one in this (lsnmh1111a-exe.zip) archive.
Usage
1. Open the zip
2. Run the setup file
3. Run LSN Mail Helper
4. Go to the config page and modify the applicable settings
5. Choose one (or more) turn/game(s) from the list
6a. Make sure you are CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET before hitting Send!
(zipping does not need internet connection)
6b. Hit Send or Zip
Cost
Nil.
Future enhancements
* Only show incomplete games (Has anyone found the completed game flag?)
* POP3 mail checker that only downloads LSN turns
* Progress bars on zipping
* Help screens
Problems
1.
Some versions of Win98 do not include one of the DLLs used by the installer.
Here is a zip of that DLL for those that need it.
Win2k, XP & Me seem to be fine.
The DLL is 1.3M (zips to 706k) which is why it is not in the standard download archive.
(If anyone has or knows of a good freeware/shareware installer, please let me know.
Workaround:
Grab the MSVB...zip file, & drop the DLL in your System32 directory before running setup.exe.
