The Viva bands are popular for extending their repertoire beyond just Jazz and swing music, the band also play eclectic European styled Jazz, French, Spanish, Latin and Cuban music, they are excellent for wedding receptions and special functions. A lot of prestigious venues have sound limitations so loud bands are not allowed, It is advisable to check with the venue about this limitation, generally the Viva bands do not reach the threshold of sound limitations

The Pilu restaurant at Moore Street Freshwater offers great charm and food and is a delightful wedding and function venue. Viva the duo worked there for a wedding reception when the duo was contacted by the bride via our website in England. The venue does not appear to be conducive to live music. Le Montage at Lilyfield

The Le Montage centre is located on the waterfront at Lilyfield. The Le Montage centre has a number of rooms for wedding receptions and corporate functions. They are organized to mass produce the decor and the food, their loud music is not far removed from a disco or gaming club. Viva the band (quintet) provided the live music entertainment at a wedding reception (booked by the groom) for the first 3 hours dining period. After cutting the cake the Le Montage DJ provided the (loud) disco music for dancing. The venue does not appear to be conducive to live music.Their website is: Le Montage contact email

Aqua dining at Milsons Point is a nice venue for wedding receptions, parties and functions, located at North Sydney pool on Sydney Harbour near Luna Park, the waterfront restaurant has magnificent views of the Sydney Harbour bridge and Opera house. Miramare Gardens Terry Hills, wedding receptions

Miramare Gardens is a 5 star reception centre at Terry Hills, Viva the duo provided music at a wedding there in August. The duo played some quiet Jazz and French music in the foyer as guests arrived, later the duo played at the reception that was held in a cozy wine cellar that can cater for about 50 persons. Angelo's on the bay Prince Edward park, Phillips Street, Cabarita is located on Parramatta River and is suitable for weddings. We noticed their program runs to a strict timetable to make room for multiple events. Viva the duo have worked there for a wedding reception. Doltone House for wedding receptions and functions

Doltone House at Pyrmont wharf is one of Sydney's premier venues for weddings, functions, parties and corporate and themed events. Viva the band worked there in December for a corporate function, and again for McDonald Foundation in March 2007 for "a Night in Paris" themed function where the duo performed a selection of Edith Piaf tunes. On both occasions the guests enjoyed the deck on the waterfront with their refreshments and French music with accordion and guitar. Later the guests moved inside where Viva the band provided some background music for dining. After dinner was concluded, Viva the band provided some upbeat jazz swing and salsa music for dancing. Manly Golf Club for wedding receptions and functions

Manly Golf Club is an excellent venue for weddings, functions and parties, the staff were excellent, everything went like clockwork and the food was excellent.

Manly Gold Club held special Bastille Day celebration dinner on another occasion and the duo performed a selection of French music which included some Edith Piaf songs. Andrew (boy) Charlton Poolside Cafe is perfect for a casual function with a touch of class. The venue has a wonderful view of Sydney Harbour, right in the heart of Sydney. Oatlands house is situated in the centre of the Sydney Western suburbs, just 5 minutes from Parramatta. Oatlands house caters for weddings, corporate functions, birthday parties, office parties, Christmas parties, business conferences and luncheons. They cater for groups from 30 to 450 guests with a variety of several different sized rooms. Parking for over 300 cars is available. Manly Yacht Club is a nice venue for weddings and casual functions overlooking the Harbour. The guests can opt to stay on the deck, and why not ?, with that wonderful outlook over the water. There is a room off the deck that is a little more formal and protected from the weather. Viva the band worked there for a wedding reception in December. Viva the duo have worked at the Tea Room on a few occasions and we noted the Venue has no small stage or suitable area for live music at the reception or dining area. Entertainment and dancing at the reception is usually conducted by a DJ in a separate room adjoining the dining room. The venue does not appear to be conducive to live music. Lindemans Winery, Pokolbin, Hunter Valley has a special ambiance being basically a rustic large shed with very little roofing. Outside caterers are used. It is a nice venue for a corporation to hold a special event in the Hunter Valley or outside of Sydney. The Venue is often used in conjunction with conventions that include golfing activities and accommodation at the nearby Cypress Lakes Resort. City Beach Function Centre, Wollongong, is a wedding and function venue that is organized to the finest details. The centre provided an amazing MC and director of operations who kept everything running smoothly, the centre also provided a DJ that was co-ordinated to play in the band breaks. The food and service was excellent. This venue is one the best organized wedding venue we have ever performed at. Viva the band worked at the centre for a wedding in April. Thredbo Alpine Village holds a couple of significant festivals throughout the summer months, the Thredbo Blues Festival and the Yalumba Thredbo Jazz Festival. Virginia Trioli, a morning announcer at ABC Radio 702 seems to be popular as a compere, she recently compered at Opera in the Vineyards and we observed her inciting the audience into berating "freeloaders" who were residents of a property overlooking the opera event and had the advantage of witnessing the opera concert for "free", the audience loved the interaction

A museum portraying the history of surf music and surf culture in Australia is being constructed at Burleigh Heads, Queensland. The Echomen (early Viva band) were one of the pioneers of surf instrumental music compositions and recordings in Australia along with the Atlantics. Update - the Andre Rieu performances in Melbourne Australia

 

The performances by Andre Rieu and his JSO orchestra in Melbourne on the 13th, 14th, 15th November were a huge success, the photo depicts the stands packed to the rafters, the grounds were also packed out, (this in the face of the knockers). There has not been much press about this amazing successful event?

One of our favorite bands is Pink Martini. The founder of Pink Martini is Thomas Lauderdale (piano) who met China Forbes (lead vocal) when the pair were at Harvard University.
