HERRATIK SIGNS WITH NEW LABEL
Finally, after a long year of negotiations, HERRATIK has signed a new deal with UK based label COPRO RECORDS. The band will be under the banner of CASKET RECORDS, one of Copros' sub-labels.

NEWS UPDATED FEBRUARY 18, 2005

NEW ALBUM NEWS
The new album was completed during mid November 2004. It is the first CD to be released under the name HERRATIK. The title of the album is "Wrath-Divine" & it will be release in April / May 2005. The label will be announced in the next week or two.
Members of "HERRATIK" were in Europe on a promotional tour during January 2005 & negotiated with European based labels for the release of this CD. All Contracts / Offers will be reviewed in the next few weeks & the correct label will be decided on soon.
As mentioned earlier, the CD was produced by Astennu (Ex-Dimmu Borgir), & the band can't wait to release this album so all you out there can hear it, & it did include "Necrodemon" from Germany's "Mystic Circle" on drums.

TOUR NEWS
Unfortunately, due to un-for-seen circumstances, Germany's "Mystic Circle" has had to postpone their Australian tour with "HERRATIK", which was scheduled for April / May 2005. Mystic Circle wishes to apologize for this & would like to say to all their fans in Australia, that they will be back in OZ at a later date.
As for "HERRATIK", well "HERRATIK" will tour across Australia & New Zealand from April / May 2005 on wards, after the release of their new CD "Wrath - Divine". Please visit frequently to check for Tour dates & venues.

NEWS UPDATED AUGUST 20, 2004

Well, Well Well..... It's been a while since this web site was updated. A lot has happened over the past 11 months since the last update. Please read on. You'll read about the newest line up, the name change, a turkey that's posing to be a member of the band in order to get dates on line, recording news & tour plans.

The Band Name Change
As of now the band is called "Herratik". WE are no longer known as "Abortus". This website will continue to stay on line, but a new web site is coming soon in the name of "Herratik"

Why did we change the band name?

We have thought about a possible name change for at least the past 24 - 36 months. We sat down to discuss this & weighed up the Pro's & Con's, & of course decided to go ahead & change the name.
Here are some of the main reasons as to why the band name changed.

The band was often judged by it's name. A majority of the metal world, whether it be media or fans, often thought that the band was a splatter/gore/Death metal band. Nothing against that style of music at all, but we aren't it.
This is really hard for us to swallow, because we more than that. In fact as many people, discover once they have listened to the band, the band is actually a Melodic, & Aggressive Death / Thrash Metal Band.

There are many other reasons for the name change. We will discuss these in greater detail with the Metal Media in the near future. Basically We wanted a band name that would Justify the style of music, & not have a name that will "pigeon hole" the band.

The New Line - Up
Finally WE have found the long needed second / Rhythm guitarist Wade (Wader). Dave (Drummer) has left the band & Necrodemon from "Mystic Circle" in Germany will be performing playing / recording the drums on the upcoming third full length CD. More on that later.

Recording News
Herratik completed the pre production for their upcoming third full length CD back in April 2004. The Pre - Production was recorded at "Amethyst Studio's" in Sydney & was produced by "Astennu". That's right, there's only one Astennu. This will be the bands third full length CD & first full length as "Herratik".
From these Pre - Production recordings, a Demo CD was then pressed & "Herratik" is currently negotiating with labels in Europe for the release of the Third Full Length CD, which is yet untitled. Negotiations are going well. Herratik is going through all the offers & the best label for the band will be confirmed soon for an early 2005 release.
The Full Length Album will be recorded in Sept - Oct 2004 at "Amethyst Studios" & will once again be produced by "Astennu". It will also be mastered at Australia's leading Mastring Studio "301" in Sydney by "Steve Smart".
The CD will feature 10 new tracks & 4 old re-recorded songs as a Bonus Fucking Bonus. These 4 old songs will be re-recorded in memory of the "Abortus" days.
Now that we have the second guitar player, we have consciously written more melodic material, that can now be played live. We always wanted to do this, but there's no point recording lots of harmonies if there's only guitar player live. Well that's all over now. So expect more Aggressive yet more Melodic music from us.
ALSO, as mentioned above, "Mystic Circle's" Drummer "Necrodemon" will be playing all the drum tracks for this upcoming release.

Tour News
Well, it's official. "Mystic Circle" will be coming over from Germany again in April - May 2005. After a good Debut tour over here in Oz back in 2003, The guys decided they wanted to do it again. Of course "Herratik" will be touring with "Mystic Circle" & there will be local supports at each city.
Plus "Herratik" will start planning headliner shows around Australia once the album has been recorded. These shows will hopefully take place in December 2004 - January 2005. Please come back to this site for more details about the shows & The Tour in April.

I was always seriously into music growing up. I began playing piano at age 4, then violin and trumpet at age 7, and finally guitar by age 9. While all my friends were out having fun, I would spend all of my time playing guitar. I never really had many formal lessons. Instead I would play along with records to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Bon Jovi, and Guns & Roses and Most of all KISS I grow up with these guy's and being able to play this music was a dream come true.
I joined my first serious club band at age 17 and from playing around Sydney, I moved to continue my career. At the time, I was teaching Music as a Guitar and Bass teacher the Grunge movement began and although I enjoyed many of the bands from that era, I was not interested in playing that style of music.
Never thinking I would ever seriously play music again, one day I got a Call from Gooch from (Abortus) asking if I would play some solos on some demos. I thought the demos were for Gooch and I had no idea it was actually for Abortus. I actually, wasn't even going to do it (as I had not played seriously in several years) but my dad pushed me into it.
I showed up at the studio and to my surprise the whole band was there. Abortus, I was seriously shocked. The solos must have gone well since a few weeks later, Gooch called me and asked if I would play a show with them at the Forest Inn Bexley. I did the show, which was the first time I had performed in 5 years. So now I am the Guitarist for Abortus

ABORTUS / MYSTIC CiRCLE (GER) TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
The "Damien Haunts OZ" Australian tour has been finalised & all dates & venues have been confirmed. This tour will feature Germany's biggest Black/Death Metal band, & of course Australia's Death/Thrash Metal masters. The tour will kick off in "Brisbane" on Sept 28, 2003 & end in "Canberra" on October 11, 2003. All shows will be supported by the best local supports out there in their respective cities. The entry will be $25.00 at each venue, except for Melbourne, as this show will be part of the 3rd "Metallic Hellfire Festival" which "Mystic Circle" & "Abortus" will be headlining & will also feature 13 more of the best bands in OZ.  Entry will cost $35.00 at the door.

Dave Upston has agreed to stay with "Abortus" as a permanent drummer. (Good Decision Dave...hehehe...Gooch). Yes folks, it's true. Dave did hear some of the newest material that we've been writing, & it "put the nail in the coffin", as far as his decision to stay with the band was concerned. Dave has already put drum tracks towards 3-4 of our new songs already. I can personally guarantee you guys, you won't be let down with the new material. It's getting more melodic, aggressive, & extreme. Especially considering the fact that we are now working with the best drummer "Abortus" has ever worked with in the past. You'll have to wait for the third release, & you certainly won't be disapointed.

NEWS UPDATED MAY 22, 2003.

NEW TEMPORARY DRUMMER FOUND
Finally Abortus has found a drummer. The current drummer is DAVE UPSTON, from the young Sydney Melodic Metal band Inferis. Dave was asked to fill the position in the band, so that Abortus could finalize all negotiations for a SEP-OCT 2003 Tour with Germany's leading Dark Black/Death Metal Band Mystic Circle. That's correct, they are coming to OZ, & it's all finalized. Read below for more info.
Back to the drummer....
Dave, did agree to fill in until Abortus find a more permanent drummer. At this stage Dave's future with the band has not yet been finalized. We would love him to stay on permanently & play with both Abortus & Inferis. That decision is for Dave to make, SO FANS!!!!!! HASSLE HIM TO STAY ON.... HEHEHEHE....

FIRST SHOW IN OVER 6 MONTHS & NEXT SHOW ON MAY 31, 2003
After only 4 good rehearsals Dave played his first show with us on Saturday May 10, 2003. Dave played extremely well, & we were very pleased with his performance. CHEERS DAVE....(Gooch).
As far as the show went, well we headlined at the Bat & Ball, & it would have to have been one of the wildest shows we've ever played.
The crowd went absolutely BERZERK, during the very highly anticipated come back show by Abortus, after such a long break from the live scene. The crowd was absolutely crazy. We could not have asked for a better response from, the crowd. TO THE CROWD..... Thanks for you support, you guys were awesome.

ABORTUS SEARCHING FOR A NEW DRUMMER
Now that Abortus has, in the last 12 months, completed it's debut European Tour, & completed a lengthy headlining Australian Tour, Abortus will continue writing for a third CD.
Also, after 2 long & great years with "Abortus", current Drummer, Mike, has decided to call it quits.
Although Mike has notified "Abortus" of his intentions to depart from the band, he remain as loyal to the band as he has over the past 2 years. Well until "Abortus" find a new drummer.
So the band is still a solid & complete line up, & Mike will officially depart once the new drummer has been found.

Mike will be missed very much, he has been a big part of the Abortus family, but to quote Mike, "for the benefit of the band, Abortus will need a far more Technical & Extreme drummer to complement the new material being written".

So to the new Drummer.
Abortus is searching for a drummer that:
* Is reliable, hungry to succeed, extreme, diverse, & Technical.
* Wanting to work hard with recordings both in the immediate & long term future.
* MUST be willing to make the required sacrifices in order  to tour Europe, USA,  Australia & beyond, & then put more hard work into further albums & tours etc, etc.
* Basically Abortus needs a suitable person, who wants to be part of a long term plan, & be part of many campaigns in support of future albums.

Well ABORTUS's first ever Australian Tour is finally over. After 15 shows were played in Sydney, Blue Mountains, Newcastle, Canberra, Melbourne & Adelaide, which were spaced over the past 7 months, we have come to the end of this tour campaign. ABORTUS had lots of fun, got to see the country, & made many new friends & fans.
ABORTUS SAYS - Thank you to all those that participated in helping  with this tour & thank you to the crowds that showed up to the shows. CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UNFORTUNATELY, Australia's biggest Metal Fest, has been Cancelled.
That's right. "METAL FOR THE BRAIN XII" has been cancelled because of the bullshit with the ever increasing prices of public liability insurance. As far as future MFTB events go, we will have to wait & see what happens.

PROCESS OF ELIMINATION LICENSED IN USA FOR NORTH AMERICA!!!
U.S.A. based label "Brazen Music" has signed an exclusive licensing contract with "Code666" for the release of "Process Of Elimination" in North America. The album will be released in January, 2003, in North America through "Brazen Music". The official North American Release will include 2 bonus re-recorded older tracks that were recorded on the 31.08.02 & mixed on 02.09.02 at A# Studio's in Sydney by Jeff Cripps. "Great Job Jeff". The songs are now far superior than the original versions.
Stay tuned all you North American fans. As of January 2003, you will be able to get it all over the continent, instead of having to import the CD from other countries.
PLUS: The possibility of a North American Tour for 2003 in support of the North American release of "Process Of Elimination" is currently being negociated. STAY TUNED for more new about this in the future.

We just did an interview on the Three hours of power this past Tuesday night & we talked to Andrew about the European tour & future plans for Australia. Well we are back & settled from our European Tour, & about the tour, well "It was a blast". The guys from "Ancient Rites" & "Mystic Circle" proved to be a great bunch of blokes. Absolutely awesome guys. We have since stayed in touch & we have remained good friends since the tour.
The tour was a lot of fun, hard work & a lot of beer was drunk. We got quite drunk on the flight to Germany. Well, on the first leg of the flight to Kuala Lumpur. That is over seven hours of drinking, & then we basically relaxed on the second leg of the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Frankfurt. We arrived in Germany 22 hours after after we left Sydney completely sober again. But that did not last long, cause as soon as we checked into the hotel at about 9:00am, we went straight down stairs to the bar, & continued drinking. Then, the jet lag kicked in about 4:00pm, & we slept all day & night until the following morning.
We had to kill time for the next two days, while we waited for the tour bus to pick us up. We did an unplugged rehearsal in the room one final time, Jack did an interview over the phone to Belgium a & then we confided in what we knew best to kill the time, we spent a lot of the time to kill, in the bar. Absolutely great fun.
Pick up time arrived.....
We lived on a tour bus for 18 days & got to play in Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, & Czech Republic. Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our hands, the French show was cancelled, so that was one less country we got to see.
As far as the shows went, it took myself (Gooch) about 4-5 days to really soak in the fact that we were on tour in Europe. At first it seemed really surreal, but then it was all too real as we played night after night, & made new fans night after night.
Unfortunately Mystic Circle had to pull out of the tour with only 5-6 shows left, but Ezpharess of "Mystic Circle" stayed on the bus with us until the end. He was a party animal & a great bloke.
The highlight would have to be the show we played in Hamburg. The crowd were the craziest at Hamburg, Ancient Rites & ourselves invaded each others shows in order to "play an end of tour joke" on each other & then we went to the "Headbangers Ballroom" in Hamburg after the show, to have an "Ancient Rites/Abortus End Of Tour After Party". That was a crazy night.
After that it was time to drop off the Rites, & say our good bye's & then we got dropped off the following day at our hotel room in Frankfurt for one more night. We drank all the wine & beer that was left on the bus, went to the bar for more beer, had dinner & then went to bed & got up the next morning to go home.

"Abortus" is proud to announce that the band has been confirmed & booked to do a European tour in December of 2001. "Abortus" will be touring throughout Europe with Belgium's "Ancient Rites" & Germany's "Mystic Circle". The band is excited & looking forward to the tour.
