Reese Witherspoon Biography

As one of filmdom’s most sought-after actresses, Reese Witherspoon is a favorite of both audiences and critics alike for her vital and vibrant portrayals.

At the age of seven, Reese started her path to fame by doing several commericials for television. Next, Reese took on a Lifetime cable movie called Wildflower and made her film debut with 1991's 'Man on the Moon'.

After that two more films were made, 'Jack the Bear' and 'A Far Off Place' and that strengthened her career. She also starred in a CBS mini-series called 'Return to Lonesome Dove' and then took time off to concentrate on college.

In 1994, Reese came back to acting with 'Fear' and continued to get roles. Another big role was 1998's 'Pleasantville'. After her fiance Ryan joined the cast of Cruel Intentions, she too decided to join. It wasn't until the movie 'Legally Blonde', that Reese made it as a movie star in her own right.

She has twice been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for incarnating unforgettable characters: Elle Woods in Robert Luketic’s "Legally Blonde," and Tracy Flick in Alexander Payne’s "Election." The latter performance also earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination as well as Best Actress honors from the National Society of Film Critics, the Kansas City Film Critics Circle, and the Online Film Critics Society.
