Alicia Bennett is a Brisbane-based poet. Her debut collection The tincture of salt was launched by Donna Lee Brien (author of Girls Guide to Real Estate and Girls Guide to Work and Life) at Mulligan’s Esspresso Books in April 2004 and was included at this year’s Queensland Poetry Festival at the Judith Wright Centre in Fortitude Valley. Alicia performed at the 2004 Queensland Poetry Festival. Her performance wove poetry with a multi-media with over 180 black and white images of women colouring the white wall of the Music Rehersal Performance Space at the Judith Wright Centre. Alicia slammed at the National Poetry Week/Bent Books Word Salad on the 4th September 2004 at Belushi’s Bar, Fortitude Valley (poets performing included Mandy Beaumont, Graham Nunn, Rowan Donovan and Brently Fraser)
