This is a page that I am creating after my December 2000 visit to Malaysia. The Internet is fairly exposed there but feedback is that most corporates and businesses are still uncertain as to their ability to make a buck on services and products.

The LimKokWing Institute is getting a lot of press, because the founder has just won an award. My visit to the site was rewarded with some quirky design. There are many educational establishments supporting twinning in Malaysia. One of them is INTI who work with Uni of Wollongong.

Not Malaysian, I spied the url for Aesop cosmetics at a Jusco stall. Aesop operates from Melbourne (i.e. right here where I live) of all places - curious case of going overseas to see what's on your front door.

When I was a student of St. John's the British Council was a place to be. It now has a website.

Fuji Digital Camera RM 1300 KL is about shopping. I was interested in low priced digital cameras. Saw this one and a shopping website. However no order taking on the website.

If you View Source on the webpage, no meta tags at all and no author details. Hmm...

My Palm m100 was being heavily trashed by Alan, but Psion are alive and well in Malaysia.

I was very surprised to see that Monash University Malaysia had their own website and non corporate web designs to boot. Hey Kerryn, nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

My close friend was telling me about Job Searches and I wonder whether JobStreet is the one he was talking about.

I read about the Beebo Beebo contributed by Brigitte Rozario - a fine effort, using FrontPage.

Dot Coms are trying hard in Malaysia e.g. MOL but there is only so much VC around in the country. MOL provides a Call Centre service.

There were a few of my friends and family looking for new computer monitors. The Sony E200 17" was favoured by them - distribution and exposure for more economical brands like Samsung, Daewoo, Hyundai was not as strong as in Melbourne. As an outside shot, they could try for a 29" monitor (to watch their VCD / DVDs?)

While you're out looking for technical oddities, how about a 4 hour Voice Activated Recorder distributed by Leading Distribution Malaysia who also have stock market index hyperlinks on their website.

Ok, finally, came across this watch at Sungei Wang Plaza and snapped it up. I'd been keeping an eye on Watches that Sync to PIMs (MS Outlook) for a year and this came at a reasonable price with reasonable features.

It's most convenient when it syncs to Palm (you need to load the PC-Unite.PRC). When so doing, the lowest common denominator is the watch - there are limits to the length of the Phone Number that it can store.

To sync to the PC, it cannot use the ubiquitous notebook i/r port, you have to use this special i/r gadget called Casio PAD-2 (supplied) linked to standard serial port. Of course, that means it works on NT as well.

With even more potential for fun is Casio's GPS watch Pro-Trek Satellite Navi.
