LaLa Pictures was formed in 2001 by Andrew with a primary focus to
produce film projects. Recent projects include ‘Contact’
a 17-minute short drama
funded by the NSW FTO which has screened in 35 international film
festivals and won the Panavision Award at Mardi Gras Film Festival
2003.
More recently Andrew has been directing and producing a documentary
profiling Jeff Gambin
of the Just Enough Faith food van. The documentary also focuses on
a group of homeless people who in 2003 rehearsed and devised a theatre
show to celebrate JEF’s (Just Enough Faith) 10th anniversary
of supplying gourmet meals every night to hundreds of homeless people
in Sydney.
Other projects in development include screenwriter and AFTRS lecturer
John Lonie’s ‘Friend of Dorothy’ a feature screenplay
focusing on the relationship between teacher and student set in the
lush Queensland tropics during the Vietnam War. On this project Andrew
has teamed up with producer Melissa Hasluck who recently made the
low budget feature ‘Teesh & Trude’.
Andrew, also a part time dreamer, was taken with the name LaLa that
is more commonly known as ‘la la land’, a place where
funny people go to discuss
really silly ideas. |

COMPANY DIRECTOR:
JACQUELINE ARCHER
Sherazade was the famous female narrator of "The Arabian Nights:
Tales from a Thousand and One Nights". As the story goes, the
Sultan had ordered
Sherazade to die. In order to save her life, she would tell story
after story to the Sultan over a period of 1001 nights.
She brought alive the famous stories of Alladin, magic carpets and
genies in bottles. So besotted
and engrossed the Sultan was by her stories, he kept Sherazade alive
in order to hear every detail. He eventually fell in love with her,
and overturned her death sentence by marrying her.
Sherazade Productions is therefore inspired by this narrator; a company
founded by a woman to tell stories that touch the soul. Narrate or
die.
Sherazade Productions was founded in late 2002. The aim of the company
is to tell stories that entertain, uplift and inspire audiences worldwide
through the mediums of theatre and film. |
