Baroque
violin
Delphine
Barbot is currently completing a Bachelor of Music at the Sydney
Conservatorium of Music, studying violin with Marina Marsden. During
semester, she plays in the Symphony orchestra and participates in
conductor and composer workshops. Delphine has also participated in
masterclasses and recordings with Charles Castleman and Simon Fischer.
Since discovering Baroque violin playing almost two years ago, Delphine
has been studying privately with Anna MacDonald with the aid of an
instrument loan from the Conservatorium - a Simon Brown baroque violin,
and has performed with The Tall Poppeas and the St. Laurence Baroque
Orchestra. In addition to performing, Delphine is very interested in music
education. While working at several primary schools and the St. Andrews
Cathedral School, she has gained experience as a violin and musicianship
teacher, string ensemble coordinator, and chamber music tutor.
Additionally, she regularly participates in research projects for the St.
Andrews Cathedral School, working alongside teams of professional
musicians and educators to develop teaching units for the students at the
school. After completing her degree, she hopes to extend her studies on
the baroque violin as well as music teaching. |
