RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK

CLUB OF VICTORIA

The club has an emphasis on getting members together. With this in mind a weekend is organised every year at a Scout Camp in Shepparton.

Moira Park is 600 acres of natural bushland along the Goulburn river and provides a perfect setting for our ridgebacks as you can see in the photos.

This is a group photo from the camp in 1998

Although not everybody was in the photo

The Scout Camp consists of a number of old dormitory type buildings with some large campfire areas. The weekend enables dogs and owners to enjoy long walks or idle times on asandy beach nearby.

On the first day a fun agility trial is held over logs and makeshift tunnels and see saws. This is followed by a dinner and fun around the campfire. For those that survive the next day involves lurecoursing and other activities.

Lure coursing is one of the dog's favourite

activities of the weekend

During the weekend there are many activities, left is a fun tracking event

Sometimes dogs manage to find something very nice to roll in.Owners are always on hand to enjoy a quick dip in the river to wash their dog.

Note -owner wishes to remain anonymous!

This boy is being washed after rolling

in a nice fresh cow pat

It is truly amazing to see thirty or more ridgebacks running free in one area with little trouble. Owners enjoy the freedom and the chance to get togetherwith their dogs.

Right is a photo from the camp in

1999, as you can see as word gets

around about what a great weekend

it is our numbers are increasing

The weekend is open for all members and enquiries can be made through the club for next years extravaganza.
