Remembering a

"Hot August Night"

In August 1972 Neil performed at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

One  evening my friends and I had front row for the concert. Nan Arntzen (Cretens) and I had known Neil and talked with him often.

I had brought binoculars to the concert, just for fun. I don't recall the song, but I held the binoculars to my eyes until Neil looked over at us.

He shook his head and started laughing... he actually turned around and couldn't sing.

We were always doing little things like that and usually he'd just smile, but this time I got him.

After the show, we went out back to say our usual hellos. When he came out, he looked right at me and started shaking his finger at me as he walked towards us, with a big smile on his face. Then he shook his head and said  "you got me good tonight".

We all laughed.
