Neil Diamond in Concert, 1972
(pencil drawing from the 1999 tourbook, page 10
middle)
This photo attracted me from the first time I saw it because if its unusual
angle and Neilīs eyes looking like sprinkling stars. Niel has such a dreamy
expression on his face, and his eyes reflect all of his inner beauty and soul.
Plus, I just loved his hair on this one. I always loved Neilīs long and thick
hair, and the way he was wearing it back in 1972.

"I Am... He Said"
(pencil drawing from a 1971 photo)
The photo from which I executed the drawing attracted me because of the harsh
black and white contrasts on Neilīs face. It shows him playing his guitar and I
am sure he is doing "I Am
I Said" on it. I didnīt draw the guitar
though as I tried to concentrate completely on the exceptional lighting that
underlines his facial expression in such an exaggerated way.

Neil Diamond in 2001
(pencil drawing from the photo on page 9 of the
2001/02 tour book)
I never attempted to do a drawing of todayīs Neil until I came across this
magnificent portrait of him. Besides him looking very good, I loved the lighting
on this picture. It reflects something secret about him. When I look at it, I
always have the idea I have to explore something about Neil that I never
experienced before.
