Kayak Cart

by Ross C.

I bought a Bunning's 150kg capacity trolley for $19.90 fitted with two, plastic centred, 26 by 8cm pneumatic wheels and scrounged a bit of aluminium box channel from a mate.

Used the wheels from the trolley and bolted the axle inside the channel such that enough axle protruded to attach the wheels.

It was then a simple matter of gluing a strap on top of the channel and attaching my existing Thule Kayak Carrier Racks over both the strapping and the channel.

I now have a low cost, stowable, kayak cart that I can strap onto the rear of my kayak and can just walk about half a kilometre in ten minutes to the river instead of having to load the car and drive four kilometres to launch at the park.
