AKFF has a new home
Last year the Pine Rivers Shire Council organized a very successful clean-up day on the Pine, North Pine, and South Pine Rivers.
The day was supported by local community groups and individuals.
This year the cleanup-day is on Saturday, 1st October. For all the details see the Pine Rivers Shire Council Press Release.
At the end of last year I wrote about a new forum that was just starting. I'm not sure that Phil knew what to expect at the time, but in less than twelve months the forum has grown to more than 100 members and nearly 4000 posts. As a result of this growth, the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum has moved to a new home, with a new look and added features. A great effort Phil, appreciated by all who are involved in kayak fishing.
Queensland Fishing Monthly has just published an article on Kayak Fishing in its September edition, and hopefully there'll be a few more over the coming months.
I've heard from an industry source that there is a new Australian designed fishing kayak about to go into production. As soon as I get more information you'll read about it here, and I'll see if we can tee-up a test paddle.
On the fishing scene, Bream have been a little quiet this Winter, but early reports suggest we are in for a good Flathead season. The Flathead are generally thought to get moving around the time of the first full moon in September, but they've been turning up for a couple of weeks now, possibly due to the mild Winter.
Before too long the days will be warmer and longer, and it will be time to start thinking of Mackerel again. Already juvenile fish have been caught in Laguna Bay and I plan on getting up there a couple of times before the new year when the Gold Coast reefs should begin to produce.
