Donnybrook

Donnybrook is a small village on the western shore of the Pumicestone Passage less than an hour north of Brisbane. It is an ideal launch site to access Glass Mountain Creek, Mission Point, and the Pumicestone Passage up to Tripcony Bight.

Getting there

Heading north from Brisbane along the Bruce Highway, take the Pumicestone Road exit and turn east. About 7km along Pumicestone Road turn left into Donnybrook Road. Once you reach the township, take a right turn at the general store then left into the Esplanade. This will bring you to a small car park area with a picnic area and boat ramp. There is a large boat trailer parking area further back along the Esplanade.

Launching

You can launch from the concrete ramp if you choose, however there is a shallow gravel beach in front of the picnic area and this is ideal for launching and retrieving a kayak. This beach does get covered by big high tides.

Facilities

There is a fish cleaning table on the opposite side the boat ramp from the picnic area. Donnybrook has a general store that hires boats and sells both bait and tackle. There is a camping ground opposite the boat ramp and picnic area and this appears to be well patronised. There is a public toilet alongside of the camping ground, opposite the ramp.

Comments

Note that Tripcony Bight in the Pumicestone Passage is a no fishing zone.
