Ningi Creek

Ningi Creek flows into the Pumicestone Passage between Ningi and Toorbul less than an hour north of Brisbane.

Getting there

Heading north from Brisbane along the Bruce Highway, take the Pumicestone Road exit and turn east. Continue along Pumicestone Road — about 14km — until it ends at a tee-intersection at Freeman Road. Turn right into Freeman Road and follow it for about 2km until it ends at the boat ramp.

Launching

There is a single lane concrete boat ramp. There is a small patch of sand alongside ramp suitable for launching or landing a kayak. This patch of sand is only just covered at high tide.

Facilities

Toilets, a rubbish bin, and nothing else. If you want picnic tables and barbeques, go back along Freeman Road into Toorbul where you'll find these scattered along the Esplanade which follows the shore of Pumicestone Passage.

Comments

Pumicestone Road meets Ningi Creek about three kilometres past the Donnybrook Road turn-off. You may be able to launch here, but it may be muddy. Be warned, if you park on the flat beside the creek here that it does get covered by the bigger high tides.

Watch out for 'roos along Freeman Road, particularly at dawn and dusk. First visit I saw about a dozen along the two kilometre stretch.
