Nudgee Creek

Nudgee Creek is part of the Boondall Wetlands Canoe Trail and is connected to Nundah Creek by a portage.

Getting there

You can get to Nudgee Road by following the Inner City Bypass onto Kingsford Smith Drive then turning left when you reach Nudgee Road, or from Sandgate Road take the East-West Arterial Road and turn left onto Nudgee Road before you reach the Gateway Arterial. Continue along Nudgee Road until it eventually turns into O'Quinn Street at Nudgee Beach. Continue along O'Quinn Street until the Boondall Wetlands Reserve sign (don't follow the Nudgee Beach signs to the right) where you will find a carpark.

Nudgee Creek canoe launching area

Launching

There is a short path from the carpark which ends with a set of concrete steps going down into the creek. The creek bank is fairly muddy and drops away at the edge. Launching is probably easier when there is enough water to cover the bottom one or two steps.

Facilities

None near the launch site. If you turn north off O'Quinn Street into Fortitude Street you will come to a picnic area with toilets.

Comments

The sandflies in this area have a liking for kayak fishermen! Don't forget your repellant. If you want to fish Nundah Creek then I would launch at Sandgate rather than use the portage.
