Pimpama River
Pimpama River is at the northern end of the Gold Coast and flows into the Broadwater. The river has extensive yabby banks, several drains from the mangroves, and a few areas of oyster covered rocks. Near the mouth of the river there are several oyster racks.
Getting there
From Brisbane head towards the Gold Coast on the Pacific Motorway. Either take "Exit 49" onto Yawalpah Road then after 4km turn right onto Kerkin Road then Amity Road until you reach Foxwell Road. Alternately take "Exit 54" (the exit to Dream World) and turn left onto Foxwell Road.
Continue along Foxwell Road to 1.5km past the Amity Road intersection. Here Foxwell Road turns right 90°, but instead continue straight along Colman Road for about 3.5km to the boat ramp.
Launching
A single lane ramp with coarse stones either side. At low tide the last section of the ramp is quite steep and not suited to wheeling a kayak cart. There is a small patch of sand to the left of the ramp suitable for launching kayaks and canoes at low tide.
Facilities
There is a limited amount of parking at this ramp, maybe enough for about six cars with trailers. Apart from a rubbish bin, there are no facilities.
