Grand Champion Velbeauf Cory John

Cory is the only Charlie Grand Champion in Australia....

Born: 7~6~1994

S: Ch. Cavnkin Milton John

D: Velbeauf Lucinda

In 1990 we were showing a beautiful Black and Tan Charlie "Cavnkin Milton John". He had gained 478 points, but there were on Grand Champions in those days. I was told that Trish would like Milton’s bloodline.

We met Trish and Terry at a Bunyip Show, so we talked about it. Milton John went to live with Trish and I was to get a puppy, (hopefully one of Milton’s).

On the 7th June 1994 our phone rang very late. It was a very excited Trish, (sorry to have rung so late), I was excited also.

Trish was just back from the Vet. She kept saying, "Milton is a Daddy". Although very, very young, Trish said a little Ruby boy in the litter was very nice. That the little pup became, "Velbeauf Cory John", and our little Charlie.

Cory loved shows, but he hated being in the trolley and would start barking. We decided to put him on top. Cory loved that. He would look around him. I am sure he thought he was KING of the trolley up there. He never tried to jump down.

When a judge threw something on the ground Cory, would smell it, look disappointed because it wasn’t eatable.

Cory could be a grump at times. When we came home from a show and wanted to get Cory out of his carry box he would growl. We would put his box on the ground, door open and Cory would get when it suited him.

After Cory became "A Grand Champion", Trish asked if she could have a stud from him.

Unfortunately, Cory didn’t like girls so we didn’t get ant babies Trish took Cory to shows in her area.

In 2000 she took him to the Royal Melbourne Show in the Open Class. He was up against 4 other Charlies that were doing a lot of winning, but like the "Grand Champion" that he is , he won his class and he was the oldest Charlie in it.

We were so proud of him…..

We then got a beautiful tri Charlie from Trish "Velbeauf Wizard O.Oz". I am sure Oscar would have been a grand champion also, if he hadn’t injured his leg. He needed an operation. He already had 411 points, so decided not to put Oscar through all that pain.

We have a third little Charlie pup from Trish, "Velbeauf Laird Dudley". Dudley is a gorgeous little Blenheim. Walks very well in the ring. He loves lots of kisses and cuddles.

I am looking forward to when Dudley will be old enough for a challenge.

My husband, Chas and myself would like to thank Trish and Terry for letting us have three of their beautiful little Charlies and to let everyone know the happiness, pleasure and pride these little dogs have given us.

Thank you "Velbeauf".

Mary Hamm, Yarrawonga, Vic.

G. Ch. Velbeauf Corey John (Ruby)

7-6-1994 ~ 28-10-2006

S: Ch Cavnkin Milton John (BT)

D: Velbeauf Lucinda (BT)

To call him a dog hardly seem to do him justice, though inasmuch as he had four legs, a tail and barked, I admit he was, to all outward appearances. But those of us who knew him well, he was a perfect gentleman… Penned by Herman Gingold 1817~1987

Corey went to live with Mary and Chas Hamm as a puppy. Chas showed Corey through to his G. Ch. Title. Corey then came back to Velbeauf for breeding. Unfortunately he was not a lady’s man and preferred to be a bachelor, but guarded every litter born at Velbeauf as his own.  Corey died quietly where he was born at Velbeauf aged 12 years 4 months.

Goodnight “Little Man” you will always be remembered.

All our love ~ Mary & Chas Hamm, Trish & Terry Lamb
