Antoinette du Paix, Wandering Knight of the Rose and Cross
I've never actually met Antoinette, but young Avon speaks very highly of her, although he is rather naive... I wonder what she is like. B.
Antoinette was born and raised in Paix. She has no “secret identity” hiding behind her name (unlike most other Montaigne that take the “du Paix” appellation)—she is merely declaring her dedication to her homeland. Of course, if somebody wants to dig around looking for a hidden past and wastes time and effort trying to find it, that's hardly her concern.
She has been in the Rose & Cross for a number of years, and is currently training her fourth Tyro—Avon Arthur. The loss of her previous Tyro left a deep wound, and as a result she is still somewhat over-protective of Avon. It was for that reason that she left him in Freiburg when she went to see what the revolution was doing in Charouse. The plan was that she would make sure it was safe before he arrived their with the von Tannen group, at which time she would resume his training.
Very proud of being Montaigne, she was still offended by the excesses of the nobility and hoped that the revolution would usher in a new era. However what she has seen thus far of the revolution has hardly inspired her. It seems very much a case of “the shoe being on the other foot” and has done little to create the Montaigne she dreams of.
As a result she became involved soon after her arrival in aiding nobles to flee the city. Unfortunately her efforts have come to the attention of the Warden of the Chateau Roulement Noble and he seems to be expending considerable effort to locate and destroy her.
Antoinette is a woman in her mid 20s. She is pretty rather than beautiful with shoulder-length brown hair and green eyes. The trail of broken hearts left behind her is more a result of her conversational skills—she has travelled extensively and many are charmed by the gentle Paix accent combined with the tales of her exploits.
