Invasion of Fischler - Dandelion's version of old Eisen song
During our sojourn into the Schwartzen Walden Franz treated us to some Eisen marching music, a tribute to the legendary Shattenman. Dandelion was so impressed that when we returned to Stutzung, Dandelion put pen to paper to record what he remembered of the song. How close he is to the original, I'm not so sure...
This first song Franz sang under his breath and never in the forest. The third and fourth lines are a couplet and show a lot of variation to give a large number of verses. I suspect it is used instead of ghost or shaggy dog stories on new recruits on their first bivouac. The last two verses are from a more light hearted busker version.
Shattenman shattenman moving through the gloom
Shattenman shattenman feared when you loom
searching for us men
not if but when
Shattenman Shattenman Shattenman
Shattenman shattenman moving through the gloom
Shattenman shattenman feared when you loom
You slice with your shears
You don't yeild to tears
Shattenman Shattenman Shattenman
Shattenman shattenman moving through the gloom
Shattenman shattenman feared when you loom
You form a nice stack
Of body parts you don't pack
Shattenman Shattenman Shattenman
Shattenman shattenman moving through the gloom
Shattenman shattenman feared when you loom
Put boys head on line
don't you feel fine
Shattenman Shattenman Shattenman
Shattenman shattenman moving through the gloom
Shattenman shattenman feared when you loom
Though your 40 feet tall
You don't scare us at all
Shattenman Shattenman Shattenman
Shattenman shattenman moving through the gloom
Shattenman shattenman feared when you loom
Your big bold and tough
And that is enough
There's a scream as you frolic away
