The Flavell family tree was started with the discovery of a bible dated 1804 believed to have belonged to Frederick Flavell
born 1852 and now in the possession of his great grandson. Within this bible was
listed the names and birth dates of the children of Fredrick and his wife, Ann Maria Grice,
one of whom was Nellie Humphreys nee Flavell born 1886. Also listed within the bible were the children of Nellie and her husband,
William Humphreys born 1884. This priceless information formed the basis for their decendants' first avenue of research
and the Flavell family became the first branch of their family tree to emerge.
