After scouring the internet for a likely prototype, I quite fancied Burg Katz.
Although my space did not allow for a full replica, I was quite happy to compromise the rear buildings whilst endeavouring to
maintain the character and proportion of the "fantasy" charm of the front and near sides.

The dusty mountains - it's been nineteen years since the BurgerBahn pushed it's way through these
impossimole places! To the bottom right is the area levelled for the castle site,
supposedly by an ancient people known as the Masonites. The river goes through a natural tunnel where the
waterfall thunders down.
The trick to building ancient castles on top of steep mountains was of course to
build them on the floor and then place them on site.
The early sun catches the high points as we look up from the river below
Burg Burger and the Doesnt-MatterHorn (right) dominate the back scene.
Yes, the slopes are now woolly - it was a mammoth task chasing a pile of old lichen around the backyard
with a can of green spray paint!
