CONTINENTAL MODEL RAILWAY

Military Loads

Military modelling is in itself a great hobby but not as prolific as it was before the advent of home computers led many potential modellers astray. I was into military modelling (1:76 scale WWII British and German) mainly in the late 1970's before the Burgerbahn was even a dream and when my health and eyesight were much better than today -- anyone for Parkinsons?- I thought not!.

So I decided to let the two hobbies combine to some extent as the Burgerbahn is a ready-made diorama for such models. even though there are some scale differences. "Very funny! said the locomotive who gets to pull the train of army vehicles. "Dont you remember that when they were built they were all weighted down with metal, plasticine etc.

Opel Blitz trucks straight from the factory. I remember cutting the windscreens etc for all those trucks.

Secret cargo. Tarpaulins cover most of these loads. Note the motorbike on the long and winding road.
