CONTINENTAL MODEL RAILWAY

The Ringlokschuppen (Roundhouse)

The 18 stall roundhouse at Hamburger gets a roof at last. It was almost eight years since the walls and skeleton had been pre-fabricated and then glued in situ on the layout.

The roof project had been put into the too hard tray, together with the platform steps. Six lights were placed inside the building and over 200 additional pieces had to be glued onto the framework to give something for the roof to adhere to. Each of the 54 cardboard roof sections had to be measured for fit.

Below is the prototype - "Rundschuppen im Bahnbetriebswerk Hannover Ost." Note that the roofline of the model was kept much lower to not obstruct viewing of trains in the background.
