Employment History

Bain & Company/Deutsche Bank,
Project Leader, Global Markets Division
April 1991 - Present

Originally hired as a programmer/analyst to develop and maintain pricing, trading and analysis software for the Fixed Interest Division, I became manager of a team of three developers. However, I prefer to remain in the technical stream rather than pursue a career in management. I am the principal architect for systems development on the UNIX platform in my area, and often provide technical assistance to those in other teams. I have also liaised with developers from third party vendors, notably in the development of a thread-safe version of D-ISAM (a C-ISAM compatible library). At various times I have also worked on integration and periphery enhancements of third party systems such as Kondor+ and Summit.

During my time with DB I have worked closely with the Division's Quantitative Analysts to develop proprietary analysis tools and have a solid grasp of the mathematical concepts involved in the more complex areas of pricing (e.g. exotic options, relative value analysis, etc). This role also requires that I provide a wide range of technical support for our users from simple problems in using the PC to more complex valuation issues.

I am currently involved in the deployment and localisation of a global inhouse-developed Fixed Income system which is based on a Java/Tibco/Oracle platform.

State Bank of Victoria
Programmer/Analyst, Treasury
October 1989 - April 1991

My primary task at SBV was to develop an Options Trading System for the Treasury division (located in Sydney and originally part of Australian Bank). This application included pricing tools, a dealing facility and various reporting functions, interfaced to an Oracle RDBMS. I was part of a team of around 5 programmers and occasionally worked with others on some auxiliary projects. The platform used was Pyramid running the dual-universe OSx operating system and development was in C using an inhouse developed screens package

January 1989 - October 1989

Being a university, there were a great many different applications and requirements from users and I worked on a huge range of different projects, including multi-language programs.
