David Bradley - Crew ChiefDavid

David has been involved crewing RAAM since 2004 in support of the successful ALS Lighting and ALS Bacchetta teams in 2004 and 2005. He provided support to Jim Kern's and Team Wolf Pack's 2006 race.

Having started out as a recreational rider, the long time association with the ultra cyclists set free the ultra rider he has become. He competed in the 2005 Furnace Creek 508 as part of a 4 person team. In May 2006, David completed his first double century (Davis Double). This year, David rode in the Sebring 12 hour race, Death Valley Double, and Davis Double again. David plans to compete in 2007 Furnace Creek 508 as part of a two person team. He says he may not be the fastest rider out there but he always gets to the finish and has fun doing it. David made the switch to riding a recumbent in December and has enjoyed every minute of it.

David is married to an extremely understanding wife, Mary who occasionally rides her own recumbent. David has two sons, Phillip age 21 and Seth age 19. David works for the Northern California City of Arcata as a Network Administrator.

Phil BradleyPhillip

Phillip Bradley is currently an undergraduate at American University in Washington DC pursuing a double major in International Relations and History.  He has known Tim for several years, and crewed for him in RAAM 2005.  Phillip is the son of David Bradley, and grew up in Arcata California.  Phillip races his Trek 2300 for American University's cycling team and hopes one day to compete in ultra marathon level riding.  His favorite part of RAAM is being in the navigator's seat in the pace vehicle following Tim down hills in the middle of the night at 50+ miles an hour - he's going to love chasing Glenn whose top speed on the NoCom is over 70 mph.

Mark CarringtonMark

Mark will be crewing on RAAM for the first time in 2007.  He has been following Glenn and his exploits on the bicycle for the last couple of years and attributes his own randonneuring interest to Glenn's enthusiasm for the sport. Mark's cycling interest is not without foundation - he has completed 3 crossings of Australia since 2002 - twice from Perth to Melbourne and once from Darwin to Adelaide. In addition he has completed a number of brevets including a Super Series from November 2006.

Mark now calls Sydney, Australia home after growing up in South Africa and living in England for 13 years.  After a longish career as a management consultant he is now semi-retired and has more time to ride his Bike Friday around the hills of Sydney - a veritable cyclists paradise (excusing the roads of course).  Mark has 3 children of whom only one shows any interest in things cycling.

David CohenDavidC

Dave is a scientist, inventor, married father of two, power tool drag racer and part-time MG mechanic.  His passion for cycling has taken many forms over the years ranging from competitive road racing to an unsupported touring ride across the USA and mountain biking.  He also worked for the pro shop Cycles BiKyle and wrenched for the Pepsi-Fannini team in the 1987 CoreStates race.  Currently he is focused on kindling a love of cycling in his 5 and 7 year old daughters.

Dave got involved with Team Velokraft through his coworker Tim Woudenberg at Fluidigm Corporation.

Dennis Cook - RV DriverDenny

Dennis has been interested in RAAM and Ultra Cycling since first seeing the Great American Bicycle race on ABC’s Wide World of Sports. He was persuaded to join the team because of his extensive experience driving motor homes, straight trucks, semi trucks and farm vehicles.

Besides farming, Dennis has done some woods work and some sales work. Hobbies include biking, archery, whitetail deer hunting, chess and leather crafting. He lives with his wife of 45 years on a wooded (mostly) 40 acres in mid-Michigan where they grow big gardens and have some fruit plus an abundance of wildlife. Though Dennis has spent much time off the bike in the past several years, he used to ride around 5,000 miles yearly. He can be seen in the rural countryside with his Bianchi and soon will be riding a Bacchetta Giro 26.

James DrueryJames

James is Glenn's oldest son and currently at King's School in Parramata, Sydney - the oldest independent school in Australia.  He is a keen sportsman currently playing rugby and rowing.  He is often seen at training long before the sun comes up, bleary-eyed father in tow. James is also a cyclist and water skier, both of these sports he enjoys with his Dad.

A couple of years ago James beat his Dad in a 2.6km ocean swim and it wasn't long before he could run faster too. James says "the only thing Dad can beat me at is cycling, but not for much longer". Fighting words - just like his Dad.

Tom KingsburyTom

Tom has been involved with RAAM since 1999 serving in different capacities as RAAM web master, finish line coordinator and Headquarters director. He has ridden 3 PAC tours in 1993, 1994 and 1997. In 2006, he partnered Tim Woudenberg in Team Volae Wolfpack in a two man recumbent team. Not only were they the first such team to complete RAAM, they also beat all but one of the upright two man teams - giving away many years in age. Also, they shattered the previous RAAM record for the fastest two-man team over 50.

Fernando MandujanoFernando

Fernando Mandujano has been a bicycle mechanic for 25 years. He ran his own shop in Mexico, and has worked with a variety of bicycle shops in New York city and Los Angeles. He is a licensed USCF mechanic, and is well known for his attention to detail and building fantastic wheels!.

Vicki PeltonVicki

Vicki is always up for an adventure. As a volunteer with the Red Cross, she often helps out after hurricanes & earthquakes, but always seems to be looking for more. So when Tim Woudenberg asked her if she’d like to crew for RAAM, she jumped at the chance. Adventure, travel, teamwork, bicycling … what more could one ask for? She loves being part of a team, working together towards a common goal. Plus, it sounded like a great group of people, so she was eager to meet everyone & get started.

Vicki started bicycling a few years ago & has done a few century rides. Mainly she rides with the local club so she can enjoy the terrific Californian countryside with a great group of friends.

Richard PhilabaumRichard

Richard loves to ride bikes. He has not owned a car for four years now. He has fond memories of his Western Flyer that his parents got for him as a young boy. When he enlisted in the Air Force, he chose to ride to basic training. Richard grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and basic training was at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antoniom, Texas. Richard is no stranger to long distance rides. He also loves to build bicycles and modify the ones he owns. He always has bikes he is building or fixing up.

Richard's background was in the military (Air Force and then US Army) which took him overseas for a total of 14 years (three separate tours). The last 8 years he has been working for a commercial sheet metal company as the Maintenance Technician. He maintains the machinery and building and fabricates the tooling for the shop. He has worked previously as a bike and an auto mechanic. A few years ago because of a back problem, Richard decided to try recumbents and has progressed from that first EZ1 to an M5 Low Racer and he is eagerly awaiting his Velomobile kit’s arrival later in the summer. In addition to his cycling interests, Richard builds model aircraft and is a licensed private aircraft and hang glider pilot.

Richard answered the Team VeloKraft ad on BentRider Online. Having followed RAAM for the last few years he jumped at the chance to be a part of the team. Using his metalworking and design skills, Richard has designed and built the rack for the NoCom’s to ride on when they aren’t being ridden.
