Glenn Druery - Australia

Glenn racing in 12 hour

Glenn is no stranger to RAAM having competed successfully in 2005 as a member of Team JDRF Velokraft, a 4 man recumbent team.  Glenn is an accomplished racer both on recumbents and on uprights. He refound cycling after several years of no real sporting focus. He had been for years part of the Australian water ski racing scene. His racing experience covers Australia, Europe and USA with wins in Sri Chinmoy 400km cycle race setting 2 new records, Bents Over Paris unfaired 10km time trial, World Titles in Germany unfaired 1½ hr time trial and Northbrook, Illinois unfaired 10 km time trail.  He has also had success in duathlon and triathlon and ocean swim racing.

When he is not racing or looking after his 4 children, he rides brevets with Audax Australia - riding in Paris Brest Paris in 2003. He is a member of the Australian Time Trial Association, Audax Australia and the Waratah Cycling Club

For Glenn, 2005 RAAM was an eye opener and certainly the hardest thing he had ever taken on. "You don't just participate in RAAM, you live RAAM. You realise what motivates you, and what you can do, both physically and emotionally".

Tim Woudenberg - USA

Tim training on VK2

Tim has a deep RAAM heritage having competed in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2004, he was part of the four man HPV team (Team ALS Lightning) finishing  first overall in 5 days 7 hours, twice shattering a RAAM record for most miles in 24 hours on consecutive days. In 2005, he raced against his new team mate in a four man recumbent team (Team ALS Bacchetta). They finished in 6 days 3 hours, third place overall and first place in category, becoming the first four man recumbent team ever to finish RAAM.

Tim Woudenberg started doing double centuries in 1998 and awoke from the couch potato state he had been in for most of his life. Upon losing 75lbs, he discovered speed and ultra distance racing. He was introduced to the world of recumbents and HPV's by Jim Kern in 2004. Since then he has set about challenging the record books and has set records in events as diverse as 9½ mile time trial and the Davis 24 hour Challenge and Furnace Creek 508.

Beyond all this is the true spirit of competition. “The best motivations come from the trust and friendships I have formed with my team mates, crew and even competitors. The winning is only a by-product.”

Tim is married with three daughters
