 Apart from it being Brian's birthday (and maybe others too?), we had an American guest, Roland, and his wife with us. He is an avid Yes fan and keen to meet up with YesFANZ.

YesFANZ AGM 22nd November

The AGM was held on 22nd November in Glebe, Sydney . All current office bearers and committee members were re-elected. Presentation of the financial report generated discussion as to whether YesFANZ should continue to exist as an incorporated association and operate a cheque account.

It was overwhelming agreed to continue as an incorporated association.

Regarding the cheque account, concern was expressed that we are being charged bank fees on an account which is hardly ever used. These fees will very soon reduce the amount in the bank to zero. The options looked at were

1. deposit more money in the account to take it above the threshold for fee-free account;
2. not operate an account at all;
3. close the cheque account and look into alternative interest-bearing accounts

 It was decided that the third option will be investigated as the preferred one

There will be a gathering of YesFANZ members to celebrate the showing of the new Peter McGuiness short film ‘Songs from Illawarra Road ’. It will be shown outside in the beer garden Gladstone Hotel 572 Marrickville Road, Dulwich Hill (Phone 9569 1249) at around 8pm where you can get a BBQ dinner from 6.30pm

Peter has suggested that Songs from Tsongas and Jon Anderson’s ‘Work-in-Progress’ DVDs will also be shown in the outdoor cinema.

Recap

On November 4 there was a gathering of about ten YesFANZ members at the Gladstone Hotel, Dulwich Hill where Peter McGuiness had an exhibition of his art and collages as well as the premiere of his short film ‘Songs from Illawarra Road’ that was based on his artwork. While the original plan to have a showing in the outdoor cinema in the beer garden was thwarted by the weather, we were able to commandeer the main bar and between sessions of ‘Songs from Tsongas’ (now that might be a first, a Yes DVD being shown on the main screens of a pub whilst the rugby league test match was relegated to the side bar!) watched Peter’s film. We welcomed Anne Corris back from her travels and she showed us some souvenirs and shared some stories. You can see Peter’s short film here.

Roger Dean Animated Feature Film Now In Development 

Floating Islands will be a full 90-minute feature film, a dramatic adventure with stunning 3D animation produced under the direction of Roger Dean.

Tee-Shirts  

2003 T-shirts are no longer available as was promoted on the t-shirt/promo page. as they have sold out. Those wearing these at the concerts were held in great envy. And, now they are collectors items of the best Rock event held in Australia. If you bought one you have a gem. A prominent YesFANZ visiting US recently was identified buy Roger Dean who then chatted with him about his memorable stay in Australia. Another was identified by Jon at an airport in US. There will be no more prints of this shirt !! Having said that we planned for a 2004 shirt for the heavily rumoured 2004 concert tour of OZ.. Unfortunately as the tour did not eventuate neither did the shirt. We are lobbying a 2005 or 2006 Yes tour and we hope to be able to announce the shirt then. We can only wish. Watch out for it and grab it with both hands.

Memorabilia Displays:
A marvellous job was done by those with the memorabilia exhibits at our parties. The Melbourne exhibit was prepared by Sue Robertson and others  while the Sydney party Ian Aird presented his wonderful collection.
Mini-Poster
We designed a mini-poster which fans can print on A4 on a colour printer and use as they see fit. It is available on the website. promo page Ultimate Yes
The new compilation album entered the UK Album Charts at Number 10! - YesFANZ party goers received a copy inclusive

Congratulations !
There has been an overwhelming response thanking our YesFANZ group (especially Robert Forbes) for our input in bringing the band and Roger Dean to Australia, Staging the Preconcert Parties, and also the Roger Dean Art exhibit and the for that matter Sebastian Hardies appearance as support act for the concerts. Obviously we can only take a part of the credit for most of this as there are many and key roles that we owe an honour of debt to including, the YES members, their management, the Promoter in Sydney and Melbourne Michael Chugg Entertainment, Perth promoter and a long list of others who we will attempt to list here in the new future. We would like to thank every one involved especially those who came to the parties and to the concerts.
Yes, We hope to do it again !

YesFANZ next projects
We have not forgotten the Prog Rock Festival muted up to a year ago in our website and Newsletters. We are starting to think about an all weekend Festival in a country resort style setting. We are looking into the Entertainment with "guess who" on our wish list. Sebastian Hardie have already signalled a  big interest of involvement in the project so already we have set a very high standard for the music. Keep tune for further developments. If you wish to suggest ideas please do so.
