My reproduction rapier and dagger. I had the rapier custom
made by Craig Sitch of Manning Imperial, and I made the left-hand dagger myself
(with help from Chris Morgan, aka Quarf). These have blunt blades for safe
fencing. They are otherwise of authentic style, size and weight. The rapier hilt
is a Pappenheimer style, with a double shell-guard of pierced plates, popular in
the early 17th century, especially in the Netherlands and Sweden.
The Gregs. After an alcoholic dinner following the first
Magic Casements festival at the
NSW Writer's Centre, five of us decided that
since no-one had ever seen Greg Egan in person, we could collectively claim to
be him. Left to right: Ben Peek, Deb Biancotti, Iain Triffit, Nathan Burrage, and
head down on the table is yours truly.
The Clarion South 2004 gang. Week One, with tutor Kim
Wilkins. That's me on the left with the lion. Don't ask.
Another Clarion shot. Snap! Claire McKenna and her laser
gun... er... camera.
The fort battle at the 2003 Historical Re-enactors
Conference. Quarf and Craig Sitch are in there somewhere.
Outer and inner views of Quarf's tent, the majestic Quarf
Mahal. (Peter Raftos and Quarf are the two chaps.)
One of our cats, Loki, spots a spider. Ironically the
spider is next to a tapestry of a cat watching a spider.
Our two cats, Loki and Akira, sharing a sunny spot. How
cute. They're usually either cuddling or fighting. I guess they're in love...
