AN ANGEL CAME

by Chris Hamilton

Who saved the weak old lady
From a sure fall down the steps?
Who stopped the rolling car
From its fall to the watery depths?

An angel came because 'twas called
An angel of pure light
An angel of Love and pure intent
And all they did was ask.

Who stopped the little child
From cracking his skull wide open?
Who stopped his fall and lifted him up
So he carried on unhindered?

An angel came to save the child
An angel of Love and caring
An angel who stood as a guardian watch
This angel, his life was sparing.

Who appeared in moments so distraught
To the depth of despair they had fallen,
Who was it who stood guard on a dangerous night
And walked with those who called them?

An angel came for those who asked
For help from God above
An angel came to guard and care
And show us that we're loved.

So all we have to do is ask
The angels are always ready
To lend a hand and keep us safe
And hold life's path more steady...
