Age is no barrier for we had a 4 year old that was swimming last year as well as an 81 year old and all ages in between. The club is family oriented in as much that the parents can swim with their children in the 2x25m Parent and Child races that are held throughout the season.
Races are held on a Sunday morning commencing at 10:00am and range from 15m through to 100m in all strokes, and for the longer distance events, races are held on Wednesday night at 7:30pm with distances from 200m to 1500m. All races are not limited to good swimmers for each one is handicapped and therefore every one has an equal chance of winning their race. During the months of February and March the Club Championships are conducted.
The venue is a 50m ocean pool situated on the beach at Collaroy with a backdrop of blue water and beach stretching to Narrabeen, and the escarpment of Collaroy Plateau.
The Club conducts Learn to Swim and stroke correction classes each Sunday morning during the swimming season by dedicated volunteers.
Although the club is mainly social, we have had swimmers in the past who have competed at State, National and the Olympic Games. Included in the social events which take place during the season is the visit of Santa just before Christmas, this is held in the park adjacent to the beach where the members, families and friends enjoy a barbecue and watch Santa arrive on a fire truck.
Another event that takes place is Gala Day when the captains of the club organise fun activities for the children both in the water and on the beach, this is held on the last swimming day for the season. An invitation is extended to everyone interested in participating in the healthy sport of swimming to come along to the Collaroy Pool on Sunday mornings during the season.
