2Obituary (The Maitland Mercury, 1 April 1884). "Woodville. It is with regret we record the death of an old and respected resident of this district. Mrs. Thomas Bishop died at her residence, Woodville, last Monday night, after several weeks illness, during which she experienced acute suffering, but her end was peace. The deceased was 62 years of age and little known beyond her own immediate circle of friends. Her quiet unobtrusive life leaves little to record; it is in the hearts of those that loved her her memory is engraven. She leaves a husband and a grown up family of sons and daughters to mourn their loss. The funeral took place on Wednesday morning.".

1Newspaper Clipping, Child Burnt to Death (Maitland Mercury, 5 September, 1855), Newcastle Library Local and Family History Department. "On the 27th ult., a magisterial inquiry was held by Mr. W. Boydell, J.P., at the Upper Paterson, on the body of Eliza Humbles, a child of four years of age. It appeared that while she was standing by the fireside, by her mother, on the day previous, her clothes caught fire; her mothers attention was turned away at the moment, to the baby, said she instantly tore off the poor childs clothes, and called for assistance, and sent for Dr. Park, her daughter was so severely burned that she died within a few hours.".

1Newspaper Clipping, Death by Drowning (Maitland Mercury, 23 October, 1856), Newcastle Library Local and Family History Department. "A magisterial inquiry was held on the 19th, before Robert Park, Esq, J.P., Paterson, on the body of Harriet Humble. The deceased, a child of about 15 months old, had on the afternoon previously been playing with another child, a boy, of about the same age, when her brother, who was there hanging out some clothes, suddenly missed both of them. Search was made, and the boy was observed coming from the river bank. The body of the deceased was found soom after, floating on the surface of the water, apparently quite dead. This was rather more than a quarter of an our from when the child was missed; and the river was one hundred yards from the spot whence she was missed.".
