After picking up our boarding passes from the tour leader, we went through immigration and security check as there was no where else to go. At Kunming airport, only travelling passengers were allowed into the check-in area. Since China Southern ground work was handled by China Yunnan Airlines. So our luggage tags and boarding passes were printed on China Yunnan Airlines material. Gate area was close to the security checks as there were only 2 gates for international flights (I assume). We waited at Waiting Hall 1. Then at 0945, I saw our aircraft arriving on RWY21 from Guangzhou and arriving at gate 2 at 0955. Then the plane was cleaned and we boarded at 1020. Boarding passes in China is different to Hong Kong. In China boarding passes work on scanning the barcode printed on the front which differed from the magnetic strip on the back of the boarding passes at Hong Kong. This also means that there were no machines which the boarding passes were fed into. It was torn off by hand.

Doors closed at 1033 and Engine Start-up was not until 1039. Taxi only began at 1041 and take-off on RWY21 at 1045. Short taxi. Lunch was served on this flight as well. Same as the inbound flight, no choices. But this lunch was better than the inbound flight. The meal consists of a ham salad, a bread roll in a plastic bag (not heated). Main meal was Braised chicken with steamed rice and vegetables. Dessert was a sponge cake. Drink was Orange juice. Meal was provided by China Yunnan Airlines as trays and containers had China Yunnan Airlines printed on it. The main meal was hot and tasted quite alright.


Seat was the same as CZ342, so no comment on that. There were moderate turbulence throughout the whole flight and the seat belt sign was not turn off at all.

Descent was at 1157 and gears down at 1213. As we were approaching for RWY07L, I saw Macau Airport shortly before landing. Weather was very hazy caused by the pollution. Visibility wasn’t too good either. We touched down on RWY07L at 1215 and exited via TXY A8 and arrived at gate 62 at 1219. 11 minutes ahead of schedule.
