Having arrived into Dubai, we followed the signs to the transit point where we had to to go through security screening. The EK transit counters were just before the screening areas, so I joined the line and enquired for some window seats. The staff was helpful and rang down to the check-in checking whether there were any seats available. But the reply was no window seats available, but he could give us the centre block which has 4 seats. This was better than what we had since this meant we could sit together. We got new boarding passes which looked totally different to the ones we were issued. After the screening, we went looking at the shops since we had 3 hours before our flight to Hong Kong.

Then when it was about time, we went to the boarding gate. Finally we got to fly on the 773.

After breakfast service, descent started and after the transit procedures were the same as EK385, no electronic devices and no photography. Change of crew in Bangkok took place. The new set of cabin crews were not very pleasant as I heard one of the shout at some passengers. An announcement warning smoking was heard again, but this time, I could smell the cigarette... I wonder why can't people just pause this death causing behaviour for a few hours. Anyway, the usual identifying carry-on baggage took place, then new passengers came on and filled the passenger numbers to 412...

After all the passengers have boarded, we pushed back and continued the flight to Hong Kong.

The Economy Class seat on the 773 is better than that on the 332, mainly because of the 2 extra inches in seat pitch and also the overhead lockers design make the cabin feel more spacious. The cabin crews on the DXB/BKK were not bad, but the cabin crews on the BKK/HKG were rude and would definitely not meet Emirates standards.

Overall, having flown 4 flights/ 6 sectors on Emirates, I reckon they are over-rated. The IFE is not that outstanding as the movies aren't terribly attractive (At least I didn't find it attractive, both December and January). Meals were average and cabin crews weren't that good either on average. Also, no amenity kits were given out on any sectors and while chatting with the flight purser, I found that the amenity kit given to Business Class passengers on the DXB/BKK sector was only a simple pair of socks and eyeshade.
