Adam, Donna, Brian, David.

As we knew that Julian as on his way, we decided on a quick game of OLE. Donna proved way too good for us over the four hands.

Puerto Rico

Adam, Donna, Brian, David, Julian.

Julian hasn't played this one - the rest of us had played at least once. As you can see from the scores, some players used a trading strategy, and some a building strategy. Brian ended the game by choosing mayor (and we ran out of colonists). It turned out to be the closest game of Puerto Rico any of us had played, with Julian pipping Alan in the tie-breaker (goods + ducats). Scores (trade, buildings, bonuses):

Donna: 15 + 16 + 0 = 31

Alan: 17 + 12 + 7 = 36 (6)

David: 10 + 19 + 6 = 35

We next turned to an old favourite (Brian isn't a great fan of it, but agreed to play).

I got off to a modestly good start despite an unsuccessful bid with partner Alan (bonus score each round in bold):

Alan : 7

Brian: 13 + 5 = 18

Donna: 0 + 5 = 5

David: 24 - 10 = 14

Julian: 16 + 5 = 21

Brian then failed in his bid with partner Julian:

Alan : 7 + 0 + 5 = 12

Brian: 18 + 7 - 10 = 15

Donna: 5 + 35 + 5 = 45

David: 14 + 4 + 5 = 23

Julian: 21 + 14 = 35

Another failed bid (a big one) from Alan and partner Donna. A good destructor round for me:

An ambitious unsuccessful bid from me with partner Alan. Julian has 7 "7's" as vice, but didn't chose them as minor trumps (which I'd been hoping for). This meant Donna would win with the destructor bonus:

Brian: 85 + 12 + 15 = 112

Donna: 189 + 9 + 15 = 211

David: 113 + 21 - 30 = 104

Julian: 131 + 6 + 15 = 152

This was one that Brian hadn't played. Brian had a good early game with his barbarian slavers, I had a good mid-game with my miners, Donna had a bad game throughout, but it was Alan who won through in the end (his two rebirths seemed quite effective):

Brian claimed this one, denying Donna the title of Queen of the card games:
