About Dance Action

FUN * FRESH * FUNKY * FRIENDLY * FABULOUS

Tanya Carne, director of Dance Action, has been teaching dance in the Gladesville-Putney area for over 20 years. She started Dance Action in a hall in Gladesville in 1990 and since then, she has taught hundreds of children.

Many Dance Action students have gone on to pursue successful careers in the performing arts including performing and teaching.

Tanya remains passionate about her teaching philosophy, which is to make learning to dance fun, challenging and a opportunity to explore one's creativity. Classes are based on technique, but include games, creative exercises and in the hip hop classes, freestyle.

Tanya started learning dance in 1973 and commenced teaching in 1988. She completed a full-time ballet course with Prudence Bowen and a full-time performing arts course with Ross Coleman. She also holds a Certificate in Dance Education and a Certificate in Dance Teaching through QUT.

Tanya has been influenced by many of her past teachers and mentors including Kelley Abbey, Janice Breen, Ramon Doringo, Pamela French, Sue Ellen Chester and many more. Her professional career has included work in TV series, commercials, film, theatre restaurants, and a large amount of choreography work.

Tanya has taught classes and workshops in many dance studios and schools across Sydney.
