The CAMS Gold Star

The CAMS Gold Star

was introduced in 1957 to reward Australia's champion racing driver. It was awarded to the winner of a series of races in Australia's premier racing category.

Originally run as Formula Libre, it was Europe's finest up against the best of Australian ingenuity.

1964 was the dawn of a new era, and it was where Australia's best drivers honed their skills so they could take on the top Formula 1 drivers in the Tasman Series in their own backyard.

This is the story of those drivers, those cars and those races.
