Megan McDonald is an artist
who lives in Melbourne, Australia. Her love of painting,
photography, and being creative has always been a large
part of her life. She loves to experiment with different
mediums and subject matter and in turn produces unique
pieces.
The car is important as it is such a big part of all our
lives. Megan loves cars and is fascinated by old cars
that have been restored or abandoned. Whenever she gets
a chance she takes photos and then uses them to refer
to at a later date. The form of the
object is simplified giving her work a distinctive look.
New life is given to discarded objects by using them as
subject matter for photos, paintings and assemblages. The
same object may be repeated in different works and is
used as a metaphor. For example the kitchen scales on
top of the oven suggests the importance balance in our
lives, eggs in the nest reflect the appreciation of family. The
assemblages are made up of once precious or everyday objects
and convey an appreciation for the everyday moments in
life .
