This website will present information on the Burwood Heights Activity
Centre Structure Plan. This area has been declared an Activity Centre
as part of the State Government's Melbourne 2030 Structure Plan.
I was asked by the members
of Neighbourhood Watch to speak to
them about developments in the Burwood Heights Activity Centre area.
The chairman, Bill Luscombe, had written in his May 2005 Newsletter
that:
The
area under study
includes part of
Burwood Highway {from Middleborough Road to La Frank Street) Newbigin
Street, La Frank Street and both sides of McCubbin Street as far as La
Frank Street. This area has been nominated for inclusion as a higher
density residential area under Whitehorse Council's Housing Study.
(Whitehorse Council Melbourne 2030 submission).
I
was asked by the
group to keep them informed about the matters we discussed at the
meeting. I suggested that a web site was the most economical and direct
way of providing a flow of information about the progress of the
Burwood Heights Activity Centre Structure Plan.
In the menu on the left I have identified seven areas of concern to the
residents to whom I have spoken. These concerns are:
- What are
the
implications of Melbourne2030?
- What
changes will be
made in the Burwood
Heights Activity Centre?
- How can we
influence the
proposals for higher density
residential
building?
- What plans
are being
made to preserve and improve our shopping
centre?
- What public
transport
plans are being made for the greatly increased population of the
Activity Centre area?
- What plans
have been
made to reduce the evergrowing road
congestion?
- How can we
enhance the open spaces in the area?
.
