Description:
A strongly aromatic annual herb about 3ft/1m high with bright green, delicate leaves and umbels of lace-like white flowers, followed by a mass of green (turning brown) round seeds.
Actions:
Analgesic, aperitif, antioxidant, antirheumatic, antispasmodic, bactericidal, depurative, digestive, carminative, cytotoxic, fungicidal, larvicidal, lipolytic activity, stimulant, stomachic.
Extraction:
The oil is extracted by steam distillation from the crushed ripe seeds.
Characteristics:
A colorless to pale yellow liquid with a sweet, woody-spicy, slightly musky fragrance. It blends well with clary sage, bergamot, jasmine, frankincense, neroli, petitgrain, citronella, sandalwood, cypress, pine, ginger, cinnamon, and other spice oils.
