Pogostemon Patchouli

Description:

A perennial bushy herb, up to 3ft/1m high with large, fragrant, furry leaves and white flowers tinged with purple.

Actions:

Antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiemetic, antimicrobial, antiphlogistic, antiseptic, antitoxic, antiviral, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, cicatrizant, deodorant, digestive, diuretic, febrifuge, fungicidal, nervine, prophylactic, stimulant, stomachic, tonic.

Extraction:

The oil is extracted by steam distillation of the dried leaves.

Characteristics:

An amber or dark orange, viscous liquid with a sweet, rich herbaceous-earthy, odour that improves with age. It blends well with vetivert, sandalwood, cedarwood, geranium, clove, lavender, rose, neroli, bergamot, myrrh, frankincense, clary sage, and oriental bases.
