Lizard Man

The boss of the Elcid Cave (Cave to Sundletan).  He’s a green lizard in the form of a human (aka. Has arms and legs). Holds a grey shield and spear.

He just has the normal attack. If you are Lv. 5 or over when you face him, you should have no problems as long as you can use potions or the spell ‘strong’ when necessary.

Gives:

100 EXP

125 Gold

Big Catfish

The boss of the Sundletan Cave (Lake Cave). He looks like a big catfish. He is blue on top and has a white underside. He has orange/brown fins and the usual white strokes underneath his chin. Only one eye is clearly visible.

He has the attack ‘Mega Quake’ which can do major damage, however he can also use the attack spell ‘Flash’ which will be your biggest worry when fighting him, as it will do the most damage.

Always make sure you have more health on hand than what his ‘Flash’ can do to you. You should have ‘Strong’ and be on about Level 10 or 11 and he shouldn’t worry you too much.

Gives:

500 EXP

500 Gold

Drops Catfish Jwl.

Regal Goblin

The boss of the Alunze Northwest Cave. This goblin has a shield and sword and is mainly coloured blue and grey, it also wears a blue helmet with a red ‘V’ shape at the front of it. If it calls a companion, it will attack you again.

Calls in ‘Goblin Mage‘ or ‘Goblin’ as companions. When companions appear, it is best to try and take them out as quickly as possible, especially if you are on a lower level. Don’t let the boss have 3 or 4 companions out at once – this can make things very difficult. Also the experience and gold you get from these companions is negligible, so it’s not worth collecting from this battle.

The Goblin Mages use Spark instead of flash.

Make sure you have ‘Strong’, and having a Coat or Frock equipped to Tia can also aid with healing, due to it’s IP. This boss is possible on level 11-12 but is recommended you are on 14+ for both Maxim and Tia.

Gives:

Boss                                       Companion (Goblin or Goblin Mage)

1800 EXP                                 1 EXP

500 Gold                                  1 Gold

Minion

Found in Tanbel, when Camu sends his henchmen after you. Probably more of a mini-boss. They are light green, alien looking, and have blue armor on. Their armor has white spikes and they are holding a two-sided axe on their right side. They do nothing but the normal attack.

You should suffice by just attacking and healing if necessary. You should have no problems if you are on Level 12 or above.

Gives:

200 EXP

500 Gold

(They give 100 EXP, and 250 Gold each – but you must defeat two of them)

Camu

The boss of the Tanbel Southeast Tower. He has gold and black plate armour on, and has red/orange spiky hair. He is wielding a huge Ax. Can use the attack ‘Buster Attack’ on all party members. Can also use the attack ‘Sleep Stinger’ on one party member to cause physical damage and often cause sleep.

Can call companions in as ‘Slave’. The ‘Slave’ is a light-green, alien looking minion, and has orange armour on, and they are holding a two-sided axe on their right side. The slave can cast ‘Strong’, but only on everyone in it’s party – (camu, itself other slaves). This will either heal all of them for either 15 (if there is one slave and camu), or 10 (if there are two slaves and camu)

If you are struggling, you might find Tia’s ‘Bracelet’ IP (Ironclad) helpful, to increase the DFP of a party member.  If Tia is equipped with a light dress, (or Guy/Maxim is equipped with a Tough Hide) ‘Re-energize’ is a useful IP to utilize, particularly on Guy or Maxim. Attack-wise, the Kukri IP ‘Thunder Blast’ is effective.

This boss is possible on level 13 and possibly below, but I recommend you be on 16+ for all party members.

Gives:

Boss                     Companion

3000 EXP               100 EXP

5000 Gold              250 Gold

I heard this boss drops Camu Jewel, but it’s never happened for me… anyone?

Tarantula

The boss of the Clamento cave. It is a light-blue/grey coloured spider. It has 7 visible red eyes, and has grey legs. Can use ‘poison shower’, which is a physical attack on all party members, and can inflict poison. Can use ‘Spiderweb’, which lowers your
defense power. It can cause paralysis through normal attacking. When it is getting low on health, it can cast ‘Stronger’ on itself.

Can call companions in as ‘Web Spider.’ The web spider can only attack normally, but it’s normal attack can poison. The ‘Web Spider’ called upon here gives the same
EXP and Gold as a regular web spider.

A very helpful weapon to use against this boss is the Fire Dagger. (the fire dagger is found at the top of tanbel tower).  Use the Fire Dagger’s IP, ‘Blaze Attack’ whenever
you can, as this is very effective. The Fire Dagger is also useful against the companion, ‘Web Spider’. Tia’s attack will not be of much use, except for maybe finishing off one of the companions. If you want Tia to do some noticeable damage, get her to cast Spark. If Guy has the ‘Kukri’ equipped, do not bother getting him to use it’s IP ‘Thunder Blast’ on the boss as this will do less damage than a regular attack. If you need Guy to do more damage, a good idea is to equip the Short Sword (available in Alunze), and then pair that with the Fury Helmet (from the clamento cave itself).

Make sure you have the spell ‘Release’ from Clamento. ‘Release’ cures paralysis. To be extra sure, buy some Mystery Pins. This will allow Guy to cure paralysis, on the odd occasion that both Maxim and Tia are both paralysed.

The healing spell ‘Strong’ should be sufficient, but if you need extra healing, Guys Camu Armor IP ‘Divine Cure’ is good to utilize. Also the spell ‘Bravery’ can be useful to increase your defense during the battle. If you don’t have ‘Bravery’, Tias
’Bracelet’ IP ‘Ironclad’ can be useful. However, if you have the spell, you are better
off having the ‘Pearl Brace’ equipped for the extra defense.

This boss is possible on level 16-17, but you will find it a lot easier if you are on level 20+.

Gives:

Boss                     Companion

4000 EXP               120 EXP
5000 Gold              182 Gold

Pierre

One of the bosses of the Parcetyle Sword Shrine. Looks like a clown. He is dressed in purple and green spots. He has 5 juggling balls. And has a wide open smile. He has purple shoes.

Can use ‘Bolt’ on all enemies. Can use ‘Fireball’ on one party member. He sometimes ‘checks the situation’. It is possible on Level 19-20, but I recommend your party is around Level 23-24.

This boss has two phases. The first phase is when you first fight him, the second phase is when you have fought both clowns once and the party splits up into two groups. In the second phase, Maxim and Tia fight this boss first.

Phase 1

If Guy is equipped with the Franshiska, or Maxim is equipped with the Fire Dagger, their normal hits will be ineffective and can miss. The Fire Dagger IP is still partially effective (it’ll either hit for around 100 or miss). Effective weapons against this boss are the ‘Aqua Whip’ (equipped to either Tia or Selan) and the ‘Cold Rapier’ (equipped to either Maxim or Selan), and it’s IP attacks are useful. Also the spells ‘Gale’ and ‘Droplet’ are effective spells against this enemy.

Gives:

300 EXP

1000 Gold

Phase 2

You will have Maxim and Tia for this battle. Equip the ‘Cold Rapier’ to Maxim, and, if you have it, the ‘Aqua Whip’ to Tia. Attack with these weapons, use the weapon IP’s when available, and heal when necessary and he shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Gives:

2300 EXP

4000 Gold

Daniele

One of the bosses of the Parcetyle Sword Shrine. Looks like a clown. He is dressed in light red and yellow spots. He has 5 juggling balls. And has a wide open smile. He has light red shoes.

Can use ‘Blizzard’ on all party members. Can use ‘Vortex’ on all party members. He sometimes ‘checks the situation’. It is possible on Level 19-20, but I recommend your party is around Level 23-24.

This boss has two phases. The first phase is when you first fight him, the second phase is when you have fought both clowns once and the party splits up into two groups. In the second phase, Guy and Selan fight this boss second.

Phase 1

If Guy is equipped with the Franshiska, or Maxim/Selan is equipped with the Cold Rapier, their normal hits will be ineffective and can miss.  The ‘Cold Rapier’ IP is still partially effective. Effective weapons against this boss are the ‘Fire Dagger’ (equipped to either Maxim or Guy) and it’s IP. Also ‘Spark’ is an effective spell against this enemy.

Gives:

300 EXP

1000 Gold

Phase 2

You will have Guy and Selan for this battle. Equip the ‘Fire Dagger’ to Guy, and have a normal weapon like the ‘Chain’ equipped to Selan. If you need Selan to do extra damage, get her to cast ‘Spark’. Get Guy to Attack, and use the weapon IP’s when available. Heal when necessary and he shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Gives:

2300 EXP

4000 Gold

Gades

Boss of the Gordovan Tower. However, quite different from other bosses. Gades is a huge giant-like enemy who has black and grey armour, and has a red cloak on. He has red hair and wields a huge sword.

In this battle, you are expected to lose to him, as it fits in with the storyline of the game. So don’t be too worried when he slaughters you, it’s supposed to happen.

However, if you can spend the time levelling up (around level 35-40) and defeat him (it is very difficult) you earn a special sword called the Gades Blade. If you want to learn more about strategies to defeat him, go to this page.

If you level up and defeat him…

Gives:

50000 EXP

50000 Gold

Mummy

One of the bosses summoned by Idura in the Bound Kingdom Labyrinth.

Very similar to the enemy ‘mummy’, but gives less experience and gold.

In the form of a grey mummy. Wrapped up and around in grey cloth, this mummy has black eyes and a mouth, and has both hands lurching in the air. Often causes poisoning through normal attacking.

As far as attack goes, the bronze sword, the aqua whip, the cold rapier and their IP’s are all effective, and the spell ‘Droplet’ is also quite effective. The mummies are a fairly simple ‘boss’ to defeat, as long as you use Strong or the Mind Ring IP ‘Stronger’ when necessary.

This boss is possible on level 21 or 22, but I recommend you be on 25+

Gives:

400 EXP

2000 Gold

(They give 100 EXP, and 500 Gold each – but you must defeat four of them)

Troll

One of the bosses summoned by Idura in the Bound Kingdom Labyrinth.

Very similar to the enemy ‘troll’, but gives less experience and gold.

In the form of a humanoid, it is all green, has black eyes and purple hair. He also has other segments of purple. He also has with his mouth wide open, with the hand on his left up in the air. His right hand is closer to the ground. He appears to be leaning down on one knee. Can cause paralysis through it’s normal attack.

For attacking, The Kukri and it’s IP, or the Thunder Ring IP, and the spell ‘Flash’ are all effective. The Trolls are a  fairly simple ‘boss’ to defeat, as long as you use Strong or the Mind Ring IP ‘Stronger’ when necessary. If you have misaligned weapons equipped, using any weapon IP is generally good against this boss. Also ‘Trick’ is useful if you are suffering from low hits.

This boss is possible on level 21 or 22, but I recommend you be on 25+

Gives:

300 EXP

1500 Gold

(They give 75 EXP, and 375 Gold each – but you must defeat four of them)

Gades

Boss of the Bound Kingdom Tower. Gades is a huge giant-like enemy who has black and grey armour, and has a red cloak on. He has red hair and wields a huge sword.

This time around, you must defeat him. It may seem like a big task, but Gades here is weaker than when you first met him.

His most powerful attack is ‘Devastation’, which is a physical attack against one party member, which can do 150+.

Attacking with the Thunder Ax is great, and the IP is very useful. If you have a ‘Bronze Sword’ for any party member equipped, it is not incredibly effective, but it’s IP is adequate. If you have a Pumkin Jewel, the IP ‘Head attack’ is also effective against this boss. The Thunder Ring IP ‘Bolt’ is also good.

Healing for this boss can be difficult, as you only have the one magic user. Using IP to heal is important. The ‘Camu Armor’ IP is quite useful, as it heals all party members, if you have it equipped. The ‘Stone Plate’ IP is great, as it revives a party member.  If you have the mind ring equipped, this will be very handy also. Also, be sure to have plenty of Regains.

Gives:

10000 EXP

20000 Gold

Idura

The boss of the Parcetyle Lighthouse Tower. Looks like a young man with blonde hair in dark pink armour with a purple cape, and a yellow sword.

Can use the attack ‘Plasma Blaster’ on all party members. Can use ‘Idura Thunder’ on all party members.

Can call in companions as ‘Groupie’. The Groupie looks similar to the Minion enemy (fought in Tanbel), they are alien looking, and have dark orange armor on. Their armor has white spikes and they are holding a two-sided axe on their right side. They do nothing but the normal attack, but their normal attack can cause a party member to sleep. Using Thunder Ring IP ‘Bolt’ is very effective against these companions, and the spell ‘Flash’ is also good.

For Healing, using the Mind Ring IP ‘Stronger’ on Selan is useful, and is better than having the ’Holy Wings’ equipped for it’s IP, as the extra defense from the ‘Magic Bikini’ is well needed. Using Mind Ring IP, Strong if necessary, and having a few regains on hand and you should be right for healing.

For attacking Idura, having the Cold Rapier equipped to Maxim is very effective, and it’s IP attack does incredible amounts of damage. For Selan’s weapon, having the Scimitar equipped and using it’s IP when possible is effective.  Also attacking with the spell ‘Gale’ is also quite good (you are better off getting Selan to cast it, because of her higher INT).

I defeated this boss with Maxim on 25, Selan on 19. But I recommend both characters are on 23-24+.

Gives:

Boss                     Companion

5000 EXP               100 EXP

1000 Gold              250 Gold

Drops Magic Fruit.

Lion

Boss of the Aleyn Mountain. Very similar to the enemy ‘lion’, but has more hit points. It has a light-brown coat, and orange hair around the head. He has two sharp fangs either side of his mouth, and has his tail sticking out the back. Can use ‘Scratch’ attack, which hits all party members. Can also use ‘Bite’ attack, which hits one party member.

For healing, make sure you have the spells ‘Stronger’ and ‘Rally’ from Aleyn. Use ‘Stronger’ when necessary, and ‘Rally’ if you need it and you should be fine.

If Dekar still has the ‘Stone Plate’ equipped, that IP can also be useful for reviving party members.

For attacking, Dekar’s ‘Thunder Ax’ IP ‘Thunderball’ is effective. The Thunder Ring IP ‘Bolt’ is also good. If Guy has a Hand Ax or Maxim has an (uncursed) Lethal Sword, Bomb Attack is good to use, and should make the battle shorter. If you need to speed things up even further, using the spell ‘Trick’ (or failing that, Anger Brace IP ‘Battle Lust’) on a party member will also help.

I recommend you be on Level 25+ for all party members. This will help with the ‘Bite’ attack, which is the most powerful attack from this boss.

Gives:

10000 EXP

16000 Gold

(They give 5000 EXP, and 8000 Gold each – but you must defeat two of them)

Idura

The boss of the Narcysus Tower. Looks like a young man with blonde hair in dark pink armour with a purple cape, and a yellow sword. Can use ‘Plasma Blaster’ on all party members. Can use ‘Idura Thunder’ on all party members.

Can call in companions as ‘Henchman’. (At least I think that’s a C, it does look like an O however). The Henchman looks similar to the Minion enemy (fought in Tanbel), they are alien looking, and have dark grey armor on. Their armor has white spikes and they are holding a two-sided axe on their right side. Can use ‘Stronger’ on all members of it’s party (it cannot be specific in choosing it’s target). If there is one Henchman and Camu, it will heal them both for 65. Using Fire-based attacks is effective against this companion. The spell ‘Fireball’ is very useful. A spell of ‘Fireball’ and a regular hit should take down a Henchman. It is not worth equipping the ‘Fire Dagger’, unless you can utilize it’s IP – the normal Fire Dagger attack on a henchman is not strong enough to justify equipping it over a better weapon.

Idura himself fears ice based attacks… even though it takes your ATP down, equipping the Cold Rapier (I equip it to Maxim) is a good idea. Using that against Idura, and the IP when you can, is very effective. If you want to increase the amount of damage this does, use Trick or equivalent, this will speed the battle up. Equipping the ‘Scimitar’ to Selan and using it’s IP when available is alright as well. Using the spell ‘Blizzard’ is also very good. As is using Ice Ring IP ‘Blizzard’. If you are going to equip the ice ring, you have two choices. Equipping it to Selan or Maxim, and increasing the power of the ‘Blizzard’ spell, or equipping it to Dekar or Guy, and giving them the ability to cast ‘Blizzard’, which will do more damage than their normal attacks (on Idura, anyway). I recommend the latter.

One of the least effective weapons is the ‘Thunder Ax’. If Dekar has the Thunder Ax equipped, his attacking may be better off on a Henchman, or using the various IP attacks from Rocks (eg. Horse Rock, Cancer Rock, etc.). For Dekar, the long sword is fine.

For healing, you should have the spell ‘Stronger’ and ‘Rally’, use when necessary. Also, having Dekar equipped with the ‘Stone Plate’ can help if the situation turns bad.
If you’re still having problems with healing, try equipping the Mind Ring to Guy or Dekar and turn them into a part-time healer. Also, try ‘Bravery’ or Protect Ring IP ‘Courage’ if you’re in trouble. If your defense is still too low, try going to Karlloon, and buying the armour there.

This boss is possible on level 26 and below, but I recommend you be on 29 and above.

Gives:

Boss                     Companion

10000 EXP             100 EXP

10000 Gold             250 Gold

Idura

The boss of the Karlloon Shrine. Looks like a young man with blonde hair in dark pink armour with a purple cape, and a yellow sword. Can use ‘Plasma Blaster’ on all party members. Can use ‘Idura Thunder’ on all party members. He has a physical attack which hits all party members, and often causes confusion.

Can call in companions as ‘Groupie’. These Groupie’s are exactly the same as the one’s fought in the Parcetyle lighthouse. They are alien looking, and have dark orange armor on. Their armor has white spikes and they are holding a two-sided axe on their right side. They do nothing but the normal attack, but their normal attack can cause party member to sleep. Using Thunder Ring IP ‘Bolt’ is very effective against these companions, and also the spell ‘Bolt’.

For attacking Idura, remember that he fears ice (just like the previous 2 encounters).
Equipping the ‘Cold Rapier’ to Maxim and using it’s IP when possible is excellent. Also, equipping the ‘Scimitar’ to Selan and using it’s IP when possible is good also. Instead of using Trick, if possible, I recommend you use Dekar’s ‘Tall Shield’ IP ‘Beserker’. This is equivalent to a powerful ‘Trick’ on all party members, and also frees up a magic caster for the round you use it. Using the spell ‘Blizzard’ is also great, as is the Ice Ring IP. I recommend you equip it to Dekar or Guy and get them to use it, as it will hit Idura for more than their normal attacks could otherwise do.

Make sure Dekar has the ‘Dekar Blade’ equipped. Attack Idura with this, and use the IP as soon as you can (the Dekar Blade IP is ‘Fatal Blow’ – which reduces Idura’s HP by a half). Using it once, or twice (if you get the chance) makes the battle a lot easier.

For healing, be sure you have a few ‘Shriek’ items to prepare for his confusion attack. Use ‘Stronger’ and ‘Rally’ when necessary and you should have no problems. You may find the spell ‘Bravery’ or the ‘Protect Ring’ IP ‘Courage’ useful if you are having trouble. Useful IP’s to utilise if you have them are ‘Iron Plate’ (equipped to Guy) IP ‘Reviver’, and the ‘Metal Mail’ (equipped to Dekar) IP ‘Sacred Song’ to fully restore HP of one party member.

This boss can be done on 26-27 and below, but I recommend you be on level 32 and above for this battle.

Gives:

Boss                     Companion

10000 EXP             100 EXP

10000 Gold             250 Gold

Rogue Flower

Boss of the Treadool Mountain (Flower Mountain). The Rogue Flower looks the same as the enemy ‘Vampire Rose’. It has a fully bloomed purple flower in the top-right, an unopened bud next to it, and the rest is many different green branches.

Can use an attack called ‘Sneezespreader’ on all party members which causes physical damage, but can also put party members to sleep. Can also use ‘Thorn’ which is a physical attack on all party members, but is stronger than ‘Sneezespreader’.

This boss fears fire. You should have found the ‘Burn Sword’ in the caves of the mountain. Equip this to Maxim or Guy, attack with it, and use it’s IP when possible. (The IP of this weapon is not that much greater than the normal hit, so give it a low priority if the character has other useful IP’s.) To the other character who doesn’t have the Burn Sword equipped, equip the Fire Dagger, but use it’s IP whenever possible. If Selan has an opportunity to attack, casting ‘Fireball’ is your best option. Using ‘Trick’ or equivalent on any of these two guys is great for speeding things up.

For healing, cast ‘Stronger’ or ‘Rally’ whenever necessary. If Selan is running low on Magic, try Silver Armor IP ‘Magic Cure’ on her. If you are low on magic, ‘Silk Toga’ IP ‘Power Healing’ is just as effective as the spell ‘Stronger’. Also make sure you have the spell ‘Waken’, and have a couple of  ‘Awake’ items, in case Maxim and Selan both fall asleep. Try and wake up party members as soon as you can, because if all party members fall asleep, it is often fatal – particularly if you are on low levels. If you are having trouble, you may want to make use of the spell ‘Bravery’, or the Protect Ring IP ‘Courage’.

For this boss, I recommend you are on level 34+.

Gives:

12000 EXP

20000 Gold

Soldier

Boss of the Dankirk Cave. This ‘boss’ is fairly basic. Looks like a soldier in grey armour, and has gold and green armour on, with a red and grey shield. The main threat is their ‘Dash’ attack, which is a powerful physical attack on one party member.

For attacking, I find these guys easier if you attack them all at once. If you have a ‘Figgoru’ equipped to Lexis, this will speed up the battle, as this weapon’s normal attacks hits all enemies. Also if you have other weapons with Bomb Attack IP (or an IP that hits all enemies, like Burn Sword IP), use that whenever possible to speed up the battle. Also casting spells (or IP’s) like ‘Bolt’ or ‘Vortex’ and targeting all of them is also useful. Cast ‘Stronger’ each round and you shouldn’t have a problem.

This boss is possible on Level 32 and below, but I recommend you are on level 35+

Gives:

10000 EXP

4000 Gold

(They give 2500 EXP, and 1000 Gold each – but you must defeat 4 of them)

Gargoyle

This ‘boss’, like the previous one, is very basic It’s looks are the same as the enemy ‘Gargoyle.’, (but has more HP), it’s a classic stone gargoyle. It has grey wings above it’s head, a grey body, and a wide open mouth, with a single horn on it’s head. Can use the ‘Bite’ attack on a single party member.

Having the ‘Pounder Rod’ equipped to Selan for some reason is incredibly effective. ‘Silvo rapier’ IP is very effective against these enemies. If you have weapons that have an IP of Bomb Attack or equivalent (like the Burn Sword or Aqua Sword), use them whenever possible. Also if Lexis still has the ‘Figgoru’ equipped this will come in handy. Using Trick on any of your attacking party members will also prove great. If you still need to speed up the battle, getting ‘Selan’ to cast elemental spells like ‘Ice Valk’ and ‘Thunder’ on one Gargoyle at a time is good, however it does less damage than the ‘Pounder Rod’. Also, if you have a Pumkin Jewel or Snake Rock equipped, their IP’s are also very, very good.

For healing, if you have Champion (from Ferim) and Valor (from Portravia), and can use them whenever necessary you should have no problems. If you have ‘Quilted Silk’ equipped to Selan, this IP can also be useful if you’re in deep water.

I recommend you are on level 37+.

Gives:

12000 EXP

12000 Gold

(They give 3000 EXP, and 3000 Gold each – but you must fight four of them.)

Venge Ghost

The boss of the Barnan Shrine. Looks like a blue and grey ghost , and only the arms, shoulders and head are visible, with shades of blue around it. Can cast ‘Firebird’ on all party members. Can cast ‘Thunder’ on all party members. Can also use ‘Confuse’ on all party members. Can use ‘Doomcry’ on all party members, which causes physical damage but may instantly kill one or more party members. He also ‘checks the situation’ with ‘Hatred’ occasionally.

For attacking, you might guess that this boss fears the ‘undead’ element. If you have them, I recommend equipping a: Silvo Rapier to Maxim, Crystal wand to Selan, and a Crystal wand to Artea. Then if you still have it, equip a Gladius to Guy (he cannot use a crystal wand or silvo rapier). Even though it takes your attack down a lot, it is still more effective than the latest weapons. If you don’t have the Gladius, I recommend equipping a weapon like the Boom Sword to Guy. Use everyone’s weapon IP’s when possible. The IP’s of the ‘undead’ weapons will be incredible, but other element IP attacks are also ok.

Healing wise, use ‘Champion’ and ‘Valor’ when necessary, but if you are in tough spots,  If you have it, try ‘Bright Armor’ IP ‘Sudden Cure’ (it is found in the shrine) to heal all party members. Also Maxim or Guy’s ‘Plati Plate’ IP ‘Divine Cure’ can come in handy as well.

For this boss, I recommend you be on level 42+.

Gives:

20000 EXP

50000 Gold

White Dragon

The ‘boss’ of the Durale Tower. Looks the same as the enemy ‘White Dragon’. It is light blue, and has wings above it’s head, the wings are light purple and light blue, and also has something white sticking out of them. It has two yellow/cream horns on it’s head, and the same colour underside. It looks like it’s tail is draped underneath it’s feet. Can use the spell ‘Ice Valk’ on all party members.  Can also use ‘Cold Stream’ on all party members. Can use ‘Stronger’ on itself.

You should find these guys really, really easy. If you are worried, equipped Fire based weapons (eg. ‘Red Saber’ for Maxim, ‘Burn Sword’ for Selan, etc.), and use their IP’s if you can. Casting ‘Firebird’ should also speed up the battle. Also Bomb Attack (you might have it in Guy’s ‘Heavy Lance’) is good for speeding things up.

Using two sets of ‘Firebird’, a fire-based IP attack and a bomb attack, I took these dragons down in one round.

For these dragons, anything over level 40 should be fine.

Gives:

12000 EXP

14460 Gold

(They give you 4000 EXP, and 4820 Gold each – but you must defeat 3 of them)

Drops Holy Fruit.

Fire Dragon

The boss of the Chaed Mountain. It is a huge dragon ‘standing’ side on, and is mostly red, but has white on it’s wings, white scales and white feet, and a pink underside.

Casts a strange, yet very powerful ‘Drowsy’ spell that also hits for physical damage.

Can use the attack ‘Incendiary’ on all party members. Can use ‘Bite’ on one party member. Can use the spell ‘Firebird’ on all party members.

There are two ways to hit this boss effectively. Using one or the other, or a combination should help you defeat this boss.

The most effective weapons against this boss are the Dragon Blade and Lizard Blow.

If you are having troubles against this boss, I suggest you go to the casino, save up or win enough coins to buy a Dragon Blade or two. The Lizard Blow is found in Lufia’s hardest puzzle, at the end of the Chaed Mountain. All party members can equip the Lizard Blow, whereas only Maxim and Guy can equip the Dragon Blade. Using these two weapons and their IP’s is extremely effective.

If you don’t have some/any of these weapons however, remember that he fears water and Ice. If you don’t have Dragon based weapons, I recommend you equip a ‘Mist Rapier’ to Maxim, Selan and Artea. If you don’t have Mist Rapiers, using ice based weapons such as the ‘Freeze Bow’ or ‘Freeze Sword’ or other water based weapons such as ‘Aqua Sword’ is just as effective. I would equip a ‘Trident’ to Guy. Use these IP’s whenever possible is quite good.

Other methods which are effective are the elemental spells ‘Dragon’ and ‘Ice Valk’, also ‘Kraken Rock’ IP ‘Ten-Legger’ is effective. And using the item ‘Dragon Tooth’ (available in Chaed) can also be effective, particularly if you have someone who is hitting for a low amount.

For healing, use ‘Champion’ and ‘Valor’ whenever necessary. If you are on a low level, you may need to cast ‘Champion’ every round. Useful IP’s to utilise if you are in trouble are ‘Crystal Robe’ IP ‘Rejuvenation’ (which revives all party members and restores partial health), ‘Bright Armor’ IP ‘Sudden Cure’ (heals all party members), or ‘S-Mind Ring’ IP ‘Champion’ (particularly useful if equipped to Guy).

Using the spell ‘Courage’ and ‘Shield’ to increase your physical and magic defense could also prove useful if you are having troubles.

This boss can be quite difficult, I recommend you are on Level 50+.

Gives:

30000 EXP

40000 Gold

Ghost Ship

The Ghost Ship resembles an old, brown, tattered wooden ship. The remnants of a mast can be seen. Can use ‘Doomcry’ on one party member, which can kill instantly.

Can use ‘Confuse’ on all party members. Occasionally defends.

The Ghost Ship can call in three types of companions:

1. ‘Lethal Sword’ – the same as the enemy ‘Lethal sword’, which is a white sword wrapped in blue flames (though it can be mistaken for just a bunch of blue flames.).

2. ‘Dark Skull’ – looks the same as the enemy ‘Dark Skull’, which is a grey skull with blue flames surrounding it.  Can use the death spell ‘Perish’ on a single party member. Can also use the ‘Bite’ attack on a single party member. Can cause confusion through normal attacking.

3. ‘Hades Skull’ – the most powerful of the three companions. It looks like a grey skull with green flames surrounding it.  Can use ‘Confubite’ on one party member, which causes physical damage but can also confuse them. Can also use ‘Final Shadow’ on all party members, which can kill a party member instantly. Can get two attacks per round.

All of the three companions fear ‘undead’. The Ghost Ship itself fears undead greatly, but also fears ‘fire’. I recommend equipping the ‘Silver Sword’ to Maxim, the ‘Super Sword’ to Selan, the ‘Crystal Wand’ to Artea, and the ‘Burn Sword’ to Guy, as the only ‘Undead’ weapon that he can equip is the Gladius, and his attack decreases far too much. The ‘Burn Sword’ on Guy is still quite effective. Use the IP’s of all of these weapons whenever possible. (The ‘Burn Sword’ IP also acts as a ‘bomb attack’ – which can be handy if there are a lot of companions about.) Getting Artea or Selan to cast ‘Firebird’ is also good.

For healing, use ‘Champion’ or ‘Valor’ whenever necessary. Useful IP’s to utilise if you are in trouble are ‘Bright Armor’ IP ‘Sudden Cure’, which heals all party members, or ‘Royal Dress’ IP ‘Rejuvenation’ which revives and heals all party members.

I recommend you be above level 50 for this boss.

Soldier

‘Boss’ of the Gratze Castle Basement. You will fight two sets of these while escaping. They are difficult to classify as a ‘boss’, but has the characteristics of a boss battle. The same as the soldiers you fought in ‘Dankirk’.

Looks like a soldier in grey armour, and has gold and green armour on, with a red and grey shield. The main threat is their ‘Dash’ attack, which is a powerful physical attack on one party member.

You’ll find this fight will be quicker if you can attack all the soldiers at once. A ‘bomb attack’ (or equivalent) IP, or having a rock equipped with an IP that attacks all enemies is good (I found Kraken Rock IP excellent). Having Artea’s bow equipped will also be useful.

You shouldn’t need to heal, and it shouldn’t take you longer than a round or two.

Gives:

10000 EXP

4000 Gold

(They give 2500 EXP, and 1000 Gold each – but you must defeat 4 of them)

Tank

The real boss of the Gratze Castle Basement. It looks like a dull cream/yellow colour. There are 3 turrets on the front of it, and there’s a man inside the tank waving the red flag. Also, the tank has eyes.

Can use ‘Machine-Gun Attack’ which hits all party members. Can use ‘Magic Gale Bullet’, which causes physical damage, but often silences (freezes the magic of) the target. Can use the attack ‘Piercer’ on one party member. Also uses ‘Incendiary Bomb’ which is a fire attack on all party members. Can ‘check the situation’ with ‘Missile Blast’.

All of his attacks are fairly powerful. However ‘Piercer’ is the more devastating single-member attack, whereas ‘Incendiary Bomb’ does more damage then ‘Machine-Gun attack’.

As you may guess, this tank has no clear elemental weaknesses. The best way to attack is to equip your normal weapons (you should have the Zirco range of weapons). I found the Zirco Rod to be the best attacking weapon, I would equip one to Selan and Artea. However don’t bother using their IP’s as they are all elemental based and therefore less effective.

If your normal weapon attacks are low, or you are looking to speed up the battle, the only other way to get bigger attacks is using IP’s that are effective against ‘strong’ enemies. ‘Samu Jewel’ IP ‘Samurai’ is very good. ‘Pumkin Jewel’ IP ‘Head Attack’ is also very good, as is ‘Snake Rock’ IP ‘Tail Attack’. I also found ‘Lion Fang’ IP ‘Bite’ ok as well.

For healing, cast ‘Champion’ or ‘Valor’ whenever necessary. Useful IP’s to utilise are ‘Bright Armor’ IP ‘Sudden Cure’, which heals all party members, or ‘Royal Dress’ IP ‘Rejuvenation’ which revives and heals all party members. Also ‘S-Mind Ring’ IP ‘Champion’ is useful, particularly when your characters are silenced.

I recommend you are on Level 53 or above when you fight this boss.

Gives:

40000 EXP

1 Gold

Gades

Boss of ‘Shuman Tower’ near Narvick. Gades is a huge giant-like enemy who has black and grey armour, and has a red cloak on. He has red hair and wields a huge sword. He is fairly easy to defeat compared to previous meetings with him.

Can use the attack ‘Destructo-wave’ on all party members.

Gades fears ‘Undead’. I would equip a ‘Crystal Wand’ to Selan and Artea, the ‘Silver Sword’ to Maxim, and Guy, since the only undead weapon he can equip is far too underpowered, I would leave with a weapon like the Zirco Ax. Use Maxims, Arteas and Selans weapon IP’s whenever possible.

For Guy, I would equip him with the ‘Samu Jewel’, as that IP is very useful, failing that, equip a rock that has an IP that is effective against ‘Strong’ Enemies, such as the ‘Pumkin Jewel’, and use that IP whenever possible rather than his weapon IP.

For healing, use your main spells whenever necessary, and an IP that might be useful is ‘Zircon Plate’ IP ‘Sudden Cure’ (equipped to Artea or Selan) (which heals all party members). If you are still having trouble, try using ‘Zirco Shield’ IP ‘Beserker’ (equipped to Guy or Maxim) to increase the attack power of all party members, or ‘Zirco Gloves’ IP ‘Forcefield’ (equipped to Artea or Selan) to increase the defense power of all party members.

I recommend you are on level 55 or above for this boss.

Gives:

50000 EXP

50000 Gold

Amon

Boss of ‘Strahda Tower’ near narvick. Amon is a huge giant-like enemy who has a full armor plate all over, made of Gold. He has a purple cape on. He has light-blue hair, and his face is partially hidden by his armor. He wields a massive spear in both hands.

Can use ‘Chaos Wave’ on all party members, which causes physical damage but can also confuse one or more party members. Can use the attack spell ‘Thunder’ on all party members. Can also use the attack spell ‘Ice Valk’ on all party members.

Like Gades, Amon fears ‘Undead’. I would, once again, equip a ‘Crystal Wand’ to Selan, a ‘Crystal Wand’ to Artea, a ‘Silver Sword’ to Maxim, and Guy, since the only undead weapon he can equip is far too underpowered, I would leave him with the highest powered weapon he can equip. Use the undead weapon IP’s whenever possible.

For Guy, I would equip him with the ‘Samu Jewel’, as that IP is very useful, failing that, equip a rock that has an IP that is effective against ‘Strong’ Enemies, such as the ‘Pumkin Jewel’ or ‘Snake Rock’, and use that IP whenever possible rather than his weapon IP.

For healing, to make things easier, make sure you have plenty of ‘Shriek’ items to counteract the confusion that can be caused by his ‘Chaos Wave’ attack. Use your main healing spells whenever necessary, and an IP that you will find very useful is ‘Pearl Armor’ IP ‘Phoenix’ which revives everyone, and restores full HP and MP. Also the ‘Zircon Plate’ IP ‘Sudden Cure’ (equipped to Artea or Selan) heals all party members. If you need to speed things up, try using ‘Zirco Shield’ IP ‘Beserker’ (equipped to Guy or Maxim) to increase the attack power of all party members. If you need to increase your defense, I would recommend casting ‘Shield’ to increase your magic resistance, rather than increasing your physical defense, as Amon mainly casts magic spells.

I recommend you are on level 55 or above for this boss.

Gives:

50000 EXP

50000 Gold

Gades

The first sinistral you face on Doom Island. It’s the fourth and last time you fight Gades, the Master of Destruction. Gades is a huge giant-like enemy who has black and grey armour, and has a red cloak on. He has red hair and wields a huge sword.

Can use ‘Destructo-wave’ which hits all party members.

Gades still fears ‘undead’. I would equip a ‘Crystal Wand’ to Selan and Artea to take advantage of this weakness. Any good weapon to Guy is fine (I prefer the Zirco Ax). Use Selan and Artea’s weapon IP’s whenever possible.

With Maxim, I would equip the Dual Blade. It’s IP heals Maxim, but also increases all his stats permanently, meaning every other hit from then on in will be more powerful. Keep using Dual Blade IP whenever you can and Maxim will become stronger and stronger. For this reason, I prefer the Dual Blade. But if you’re going to try and do it without Dual Blade, use the Silver Sword (and it’s IP whenever possible).

Normal attacks for Guy are quite good, but if you want to extra damage, equip a rock to him that has an IP that is effective against strong enemies, like ‘Pumkin Jewel’, and use that whenever possible.

Use your healing spells when you need them, ‘Pearl Armor’ IP ‘Phoenix’ is very useful for healing (revives & restores full HP and MP for all), as is ‘Zircon Plate’ IP ‘Sudden Cure’ (heals all).

I recommend you are on at least level 60 before taking on any of the Sinistrals on Doom Island.

Gives:

50000 EXP

50000 Gold

Amon

The second sinistral you face on Doom Island. The Master of Chaos, Amon is a huge giant-like enemy who has a full armor plate all over, made of Gold. He has a purple cape on. He has light-blue hair, and his face is partially hidden by his armor. He wields a massive spear in both hands.

Can use ‘Chaos Wave’ on all party members, which causes physical damage but can also confuse one or more party members. Can use the attack spell ‘Ice Valk’ on all party members. Can also use the attack spell ‘Thunder’ on all party members.

Amon fears ‘undead’.

The IP heals Maxim, but also increases all his stats permanently, meaning every other hit from then on in will be more powerful. Keep using Dual Blade IP whenever possible and Maxim will become stronger and stronger. However, if you’re going to try and do it without Dual Blade, the Silver Sword is the better alternative.

Normal attacks for Guy are quite good, but if you want to extra damage, equip a rock to him that has an IP that is effective against strong enemies, like ‘Pumkin Jewel’, and use that whenever possible.

For healing, to make things easier, make sure you have plenty of ‘Shriek’ items to un-confuse your party members. Use ‘Champion’ and ‘Valor’ whenever necessary, ‘Pearl Armor’ IP ‘Phoenix’ is very useful for healing (revives & restores full HP and MP for all), but you may prefer using ‘Zircon Plate’ IP ‘Sudden Cure’ (heals all), so you can save Maxim’s IP.

I recommend you are on at least level 60 before taking on any of the Sinistrals on Doom Island.

Gives:

50000 EXP

50000 Gold

Erim

The third sinistral you face on Doom Island. She’s a giant-like boss, who is wearing grey coloured armor, has a red and yellow coloured cape, purple hair and a tiara on her head. She holds a lance in one hand and a shield in the form of a skull in the other.

This boss is a lot harder than the previous two Sinistrals, so be prepared.

She can use a very powerful attack called ‘Devastation wave’ which is a physical attack on all party members, and will often cause instant death. She also uses ‘Dark Fry’ which is just a physical attack on everyone, but can cause a lot of damage. Look out for these two attacks.

Erim, the mistress of death, fears ‘undead’. I would keep equipped the  ‘Crystal Wand’ to Artea and Selan, and use their IP’s whenever possible. Leave Guy equipped with the strongest weapon you can get him. Keep Maxim with the ‘Dual Blade’ equipped (if you’ve been using it’s IP whenever possible for the last few battles, you might find he’s incredibly powerful now).

Since Guy will be your lowest hitter, I would equip him with a rock that is effective against ‘Strong’ enemies, such as the ‘Pumkin’ Rock, and use that whenever you can. Equipping him with a good ring to boost his attack such as the ‘Hipower ring’ also helps.

Against Erim, you may need to heal with ‘Champion’ every round, and cast ‘Valor’ quite often. Keep an eye on your healer’s magic points, and if you’ve been picking up the Miracles along the way, use a Miracle or ‘Zircon armor’ IP ‘Magic Cure’ if you are running low.

Also I find using ‘Zircon Shield’ IP ‘Beserker’ (most likely equipped to Guy only) to increase the attack power of all party members very useful for speeding up the battle. Using the spells ‘Courage’ (or the ‘Zirco Gloves’ IP ‘Forcefield’) and ‘Shield’ is also useful if you are struggling, to prop up your magic resistance and defense.

I was on Level 65 when I fought Erim, and by no means was it a walk in the park.

Gives:

50000 EXP

50000 Gold

Daos

The end boss of the game, and the fourth, and final sinistral you face on Doom Island.

Daos, the Master of Terror, looks like a giant, he has long purple hair. He has a grey shoulderplate on, which is partially hiding his face. He has a cloak that extends to the back, that is exquisitely detailed, incredible patterns of orange and yellow. His right arm is outstretched towards you.  He doesn’t appear to be holding a weapon.

He has an extremely powerful attack called ‘Terror Wave’. This attack is a physical attack on everyone, but can also cause one or a variety of sleep, poison or confusion status ailments, but can also cause instant death. He also has ‘Dark Fry’, a powerful physical attack on all party members.  Can use all the major elemental spells, ‘Thunder’, ‘Dragon’, ‘Firebird’ and ‘Ice Valk’ on all party members.

He can also use ‘Dark Reflector’, which means the next attack (physical or magic) will be reflected back to hit the caster. I believe it does wear off, but I recommend that you use Selan to do her physical attack on him when he casts this, and it will come back on her, and take off some health – using Selan to do this causes the least damage to your party. Hitting Daos using Guy or Maxim with this reflector on could cause some problems.

Daos, like all the other sinistrals, fears the ‘undead’ element. I would keep equipped the ‘Crystal Wand’ to Artea and Selan, and use their IP’s when possible.

I would have Guy equipped with the best strength weapon you can find (I found the Zirco Flail great), and get him to use a rock that is effective against ‘strong’ monsters, such as the ‘Pumkin Jewel’ IP (which is very effective), whenever possible.

I would keep Maxim equipped with the ‘Dual Blade’. If you have something like the egg ring, or you believe you’ve used ‘Dual Blade’ IP ‘Wave Motion’ to it’s fullest, you might like to try the ‘Silver Sword’. Using that with ‘Trick’ or ‘Zircon Shield’ IP ‘Beserker’ can be just as effective, if not better, particularly with the IP attack ‘Holy Energy’. I also found the spell ‘Zap’ to be useful.

To make things easier, at the start of the battle, I would cast ‘Courage’ (or, use ‘Zirco Gloves’ IP ‘Forcefield) and ‘Shield’ to increase your defense. Also using ‘Trick’ on all party members, particularly before their IP attacks, will be useful.

Healing-wise, I would be tempted to cast ‘Champion’ every round. If someone needs to be revived, I would use another party member to revive them. Casting ‘Champion’ each round prepares you for something like all your party members getting confused or falling asleep. Your party will have the best chances of surviving, particularly if you are on a lower level. I would keep a few ‘Shriek’, ‘Awaken’ and ‘Mystery Pin’ items handy, also ‘Regain’ and ‘Ex-Potion’ can be a handy item to have, in case you need Guy to revive or heal a party member.

If someone is running low on magic, use a ‘miracle’ (if you have picked all of them up in the fortress, you should have plenty – no point in not using all of them). If you are out of miracles and magic restoring items, try using ‘Zircon Armor’ IP ‘Magic Cure’. ‘Pearl Armor’ IP ‘Phoenix’ could come in handy in a desperate situation.

I recommend you are on level 65 or above for this boss, but, the higher the level you’re on the better. If you’re having problems, try levelling up 10 levels or so before you face Doom Island. It really works.

Enjoy the ending to this great game.

Gives:

50000 EXP
