--- Ancient Cave ---

The Ancient Cave is north of Gruberik. Even after you complete the game,
this still poses a real challenge. The floors and treasures found in the cave
change each time you enter.

To defeat the ancient cave, you need to make it to B99 and fight a massive jelly.

When you begin, all items, weapons, armor and spells are taken from you, and
you all are on level 1. When you start in B1, you will encounter enemies from the
start of the game. As you go further down the ancient cave, the monsters get harder
and harder.

When you are in the ancient cave, you do not have to attempt to get to the bottom
and defeat the boss to leave. There is an item called 'providence' 20
or so floors down. (It can be anywhere between 20 and 28, I believe). This item allows you
to return to the surface.

When you leave the ancient cave, either through the item 'providence' or through being totally
defeated, you return to the surface. All your old items and all items, levels, weapons and armor
you found in the ancient cave you must surrender before you leave, and your old items, levels
and so forth are returned to you.

The exception to this rule is items you find in a blue/purple treasure chest. Not only
when you leave (you must use providence) can you keep these items for use
elsewhere in the game, but you can take them in with you next time you go into
the ancient cave.
