Low Racer

The low racer was built simply and quickly from an exhaust pipe. It is generally nice to ride and certainly gets up some great speed. The seat is part of a recycled plastic drum. The intermediate drive is a rear cluster disassembled and cogs reassembled in a different order to suit. It is screwed on to the right hand bearing cup from a bottom bracket that is bolted to the brace plate across the top bend. It was built too quickly for detailed construction photos.

Other random info:
- Locating the front axle in front of the line through the head stem would make it more easily rideable, but as-is it’s not bad theft protection.
- The head stem angle should roughly dissect the upper bend.
- We used Steve Nurse's program for the hole for the headstem: www.ihpva.org/incoming/tubemitresn.xls
- Chain hop was a nuisance climbing and turning right until we added the rub guide for the rising chain entering the mid-drive. We should make the rubbing surface from delrin or similar.
- Refer also to members pages, builders info and links on the ozhpv and vichpv web pages and join their email lists for more useful construction stuff. We can be contacted via the vichpv email list.
