For the funeral of a Returned Serviceman the local RSL Sub-Branch will attend and conduct the Military part of the Funeral Ceremony, speaking of the Forces record of the deceased and telling of their memories of him. As part of all this The Ode will be said, and the Last Post and Reveille bugle calls will be played.

Sometimes a CD of bugle calls is played, but it is very much better to have a live bugler playing them adjacent to the coffin, resplendent with its Australian Flag and the flowers on top.

(If for some reason, the RSL people are unable to attend, then I can do a short explanatory talk about the significance of the bugle calls perform the Ode myself as well as playing the bugle calls.)

Often, the bugler is called upon to play both at the Chapel Service and at a Graveside Burial, and very I'm happy to do that.

I'm an experienced professional musician and have performed these bugle calls at many funerals with great respect and expertise.
