| Exarchs are warriors that have dedicated themselves completely to
their "aspect". Continuous and rigorous training have enabled Exarchs to improve
their fighting skills to a point that they not only fight better than the rest of their
squad, they also can have special "warrior powers". All exarchs come with 3+
Exarch armor, that the Exarchs can run in (fleet of foot). Exarchs also have a range of
wargear available to them. In addition to being highly trained in hand to hand combat,
the Swooping Hawk Exarch is equipped with "Swooping Hawk Wings" that have the
same properties as a jump pack and also allows the wearer to "deep strike" in
any mission.
TACTICAL SUGGESTIONS:
Swooping Hawk Exarchs can have the following warrior powers, "Bounding Leap"
and "Sustained Assault"
"Bounding Leap" allows the Exarch an extra D6" move during the assault
move and also allows the Exarch to choose any model within range of their charge, instead
of the nearest. At 5 points, "Bounding Leap" is good value and a recommended
choice.
"Sustained Assault" enables the Exarch to keeping rolling to hit in hand to
hand for each close combat hit he makes. The "Sustained Assault" continues until
the Exarch misses a hit in close combat. At 20 points "Sustained Assault" is
quite expensive. I wouldnt recommend taking "Sustained Assault" unless you
are facing low toughness troops, such as Dark Eldar and Imperial Guard.
Swooping Hawk Exarchs may also be given the following wargear, "Web of
Skulls" (with a shuriken pistol) and a "Hawks Talon" (picture below).
Exarch with Hawks Talon
Although the "Web of Skulls" is quite expensive at 20 points its a
better choice than the "Hawks Talon" because it has better armour penetration
and it is more versitle as it can be used as a close combat weapon with the same
properties as a power weapon. The only problem is making the conversion so it is WYSIWYG
(see picture at top of page).
An Exarch equipped with Web of Skulls combined with the exarch Power
of "Sustained Asault" will enable the squad of Swooping Hawks he is with, a much
better chance of inflicting damage to well armoured foes such as Space Marines. |
