| The Wraithguard are the sprits of dead warriors housed in a strong
and tough robotic body. The Wraithcannon that the Wraithguard use, has a short range but
is very effective against vehicles, well armored and high toughness troops. TACTICAL SUGGESTIONS:
Wraithguard are vulnerable to sniper fire and should be screened by other troops or transported, to keep them "alive" to maximize their effectiveness. Because of "Wraithsight" it it is wise to always take a Warlock with your Wraithguard. A Warlock with "Enhance" will dramatically improve the Wraithguards performance in hand to hand. Five Wraithguard can be transported in a wave serpent and this can help get them close enough to the enemy to use the Wraithcannon and then assault. If possible, position the wave serpent between the enemy squad and their deployment zone so you can take advantage of the crossfire rule. Because of the Wraithguard's high toughness and strength coupled with a 3+ save, they are very durable in hand to hand. Large squads of the enemy can be tied up in hand to hand for quite a few turns. Often the enemy will keep pilling on more troops into an assault with Wraithguard, therefore reducing their own firepower. When the enemy is concentrating on your Wraithguard, you can move the rest of your army with less chance of being shot. Two Squads of five Wraithguard, each squad with a Warlock with "Enhance" and transported in a wave serpent can hit and tie up a whole section of an enemy. Attacking the very centre of your foe's army with the two squads of Wraithguard will stop their whole army in its tracks. While the enemy is dealing with the Wraithguard, tearing out his middle, you can concentrate on one of his flanks and destroy it also. If most of your army moves to one side to attack one of your enemy's flanks, it will mean that the other enemy flank will have very little to fire at. Using Wraithguard to accomplish dangerous missions is in keeping with the Eldar desire to ensure that casualties amongst the living are held to a minimum. As the Wraithguard are tying up large parts of your enemies army, the living Eldar can move up and shoot with less danger. |
