Angelina M.H. SCOTT initially married George W.H. HALLETT at Scot's Church, Sydney, NSW, Australia in 1844 [Born ? ~ ?, BDM (1844/ V184439-77 & 1844/ V1844941-73B)].

Samuel Elyard was an early Australian artist and public servant. He was educated privately and at the Australian College. He studied art under Conrad Martens and John Skinner Prout but, believing art to be an unreliable occupation, he found employment with the Colonial Secretary's office in 1837. He remained in this position for thirty-one years, eventually retiring with a pension in 1868.

While working as a clerk he developed his skills as a landscape watercolourist. In the 1840's he taught drawing with the Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts. He exhibited with them in 1847 and 1849.

In the 1840's and 1850's he suffered from periods of mental disturbance. In 1849 he went through a form of marriage with a prostitute while under the influence of drugs, and in 1857 he established a magazine, the Salem Standard, in which he advocated that all Jews be converted to Protestantism.

Many of his works are exhibited in the Dixon Gallery of the Mitchell Library in Sydney, Australia.
